Happy 3rd Anniversary Dragonflies' Lair and Poets
Our Poets
bentfeather fatima Hope and Glory Knitting A Conundrum Lady Jag Liberty Belt NicknamedBob Reaper Freeper Scubie Nuc starbase Texas Songwriter WayzataJohnn
We the poets of the Lair, thank all who support us.
We hope to be here a long time, singing our songs riding the stars, writing our own visions, and best of all, loving all who continue to lurk and visit here over the years.
We write of love, we write of war, we write of sorrow, we write of Knights and Kingdoms from before, we write of drawing down the moon, scarlet robes, and gossamer, kismet, serendipity, serenity, and days of grace, filled with woodsy space ancestors wrinkled ragged and bold horror stories from our own past hauntings from the bog with screaming banshee voices on the wind and of the wind loud and sassy tinkling brass, silvered nights with star strewn paths. We write songs of happiness, songs of grief songs of anger and relief.
Our poets take pictures along their walk post them here for all of us to gawk and ohh and aw about the mystery of another land.
With all of life's hard times, pushes and shoves we poets remain above the fray to write in the sunlight of another new day, and take a chance on a little romance in The Land of Glen Gaul Way. And know that in the dead of night, WayzataJohnn will be stopping by to steam up the Lair with a senusous poem, or tell a hair raising tale from his life as an Navy Vet, a Cowboy, a Husband, and best of all a very good friend of all of us here.

Ah, I see, well if it works for you, it works for me. ;)
Have you gotten any rain??
Golly the skies opened up this morning with a huge downpour.
I wrote an "air" poem about it and promptly forgot it. ;(
To: bentfeather
NO rain, and it's been rainless for over 7 weeks with seering 100° temps, it's absolutely brutal here . . . AH!!!, but there's stirrings in the gulf, hopefully Ernesto will push that high pressure system outta here . . . "Hope" Springs Eternal . . . ;-)

Old Love Burns Sweet
The glen is silent
only the wind whispers soft now
under the brooding verdant awning
of trees old as time itself
Here in long soft grass
beside the stream of life
we lie together as of old
and relight the fires sweet
entwined and enraptured till spent
we softly burn unburnt somehow
till stars hide their faces at the dawning
and we return to each separate self
Oh the memories how they pass
of love and glory and strife
when life was lived so bold
and love swept us away so fleet
The glen is silent
only the wind whispers soft now
under the brooding verdant awning
of trees old as time itself

Hi bentfeather! Happy third anniversary. ASAvet, please meet bentfeather the poet. I'm pinging you because my post has lots of current pictures I'm taking right now here in Thailand, and I thought you might like to ping some others on your Thai ping list. I also list links to the other pictures I've posted for anyone who needs a Thai fix. This forum is for poetry and self expression of all kinds, so if you ever had an urge to jot down a few lines to put some feeling or idea into words, then now's your chance!
Previous Thai pictures #1Previous Thai pictures #2Previous Thai pictures #3
1.
Elephant in the forest. Here's a real live elephant I saw in Bangkok! Just kidding, it's only a statue on the grounds of one of the Wats (temples) in Bangkok, but it would sure look real if someone painted its tusks white, wouldn't it?
2.
Morning Dragon. RRRooooaarrrr!!! The Dragon Rises with the Sun! This is from a small Wat in Chiang Mai, taking exactly at dawn.(I should photo shop that cement wall out!)
-------------------
Dragons rising
only the sun is older
what thoughts does it have?
-------------
3.
Morning Temple. A small temple beside the above dragon, bathed in morning light. In honor of new beginnings I have a number of rising sun pics in this episode.(in this one, you can see my shadow in the lower right as I snap the pic)
-----------
Morning rises
Bells ring
built for peace
preserved for generations
the master's teachings
twenty five centuries gone by
-----------
4.
Golden Temple Again, you could probably get as good or better an effect with photoshop, but I did it the old fashioned way, catching the morning sun reflecting off a golden mirror!
-----------
shining gold
pales in the shadow
of spiritual bliss
------------
5.)
Morning Temple. One more morning temple, dazzling in the morning light for your pleasure.
6.)
Toasting the Lair Finally a toast, to bentfeather and her inspiring Dragonflies' Lair. So much fun we've had this year, and although I have come along only just lately, I feel as though I've been part of the Lair all along. And so below you can see a chilled glass of wine in the hand of the enigmatic starbase, here's toasting to new forms of expression, to an Anthology of our best pieces, and to Bentfeather the Poet, cheers! And happy third anniversary!

Old Love Burns Sweet
WJ, this is an absolutely lovely poem for our Anniversary thread, thank you.
The words evoke a sense of silence and awe one would feel while walking in a woodsy glen.
