Yes FReepers and FReeperettes, its time once again for another season of Survivor.
This time they are in the Cook Islands, in the middle of the South Pacific.
I was going to start off this thread by informing you all about how Mark Burnetts Production Company has decided to split the tribe along ethnic backgrounds. But that subject has been pretty much beaten to death on at least three different threads. So. . . .
I would like to point out that for all their talk about minorities not applying to the show as much as whites and about how they had to send their casting producers out to round up minorities, they apparently didnt have to look too far.
Of the 20 contestants recruited for this season, no less than 13 are from California!
And of those 13, NINE are from the greater Los Angeles area!
So much for diversity!
Probably, since it's the first night. And it's a 90 minute show too. But after football, there's no telling when it will begin.
Football....darn it.....I'll be there...please ping me..
I will :)
The joke is what do you call 3 dogs for a vietnamese? Breakfast, lunch and dinner. LOL! My cousins are half Chinese and they tell it to me all the time, but they use Chinese and dogs. They laugh every time they tell it. I like the older vietnamese guy because he is very self-assured. From what I see of him, I like him. The taller Asian looks just like my oldest cousin. :) So for now, I like him too.
I think the Asian team is the strongest also.
Also, right from the start, I noticed two teams have 3M/2F and the two teams have 2M/3F.
The ones with the 3 men came in 1st and 2nd. Asians & Latinos. Do you think this will be a factor early on?
I don't remember what Laura looks like with hair?
When the Mexican team finished the event, I could swear I saw seven of them.
In a physically-challenging environment, the tribe with more men has an advantage.
I think the "odd-woman-out" black woman made a big mistake when she voted with the other two women to take out the guy. The two women friends will side with each other against either of the others. The remaining guy's strength will be more important in future contents than odd-woman, so the other two women will vote her out next. If, OTOH, odd-woman had voted out one of the other women, she could have convinced the guys to keep her around
This season, saying "I can't tell them apart" could get you in trouble with the PC police. ;-)
SD
The humorous part was getting rid of the self-elected "chief".
Appears to be a case where personalities take the place of strategy.
I didn't know they had a German team :-)
Glad to have everyone's posts to review since, grrrrr, I missed most of the show. Happens every season that the planets align to make me miss the first show.
That's why he got booted off.
The movie was "School for Scoundrels".
I thought it was funny how they all had something to say about their own culture and background. "black people don't like to be told what to do" "people think we're small because we eat so much rice" "here's to whitey" "I can't believe we're rowing towards an island and not away from one" ... or something like that.
Right after she said "people call me Flicka" she "accidentally" let the chickens out. **Sheesh** I'm going to be watching her and see if she shows signs of being a vegetarian and intentionally letting those birds go. What was she thinking!! ... and do all fire dancers have to have funky hair?
That jazz musician dug his own hole. I can understand his tribe mates getting tired of him, and he did appear to have a low energy level, but how wise was it to get rid of one of only two males? Unless the actress and makeup artist prove to have some strength, this tribe is a goner.
