See for example this thread first.

An Indian wife must divorce
her husband, with no recourse.
Their patch-it-up plan
a sev'nty year old man
Can you say "they're Muslim"? (Of course!)

What with all of the worry over August 22, I thought something light-hearted (at least for us!) was in order...

A man said "Talaq" or "I divorce you" three times in his sleep.

The local ruling was that his wife MUST divorce him, until she has married another man for at least one day, then divorced the 2nd husband.

The new husband is required to be 70 years old, for whatever that's worth...

Truth is stranger than fiction.

Cheers!

Yeah this IS funny. The funnier thing is in India, there's no common civil code in the law. Each religion, Islam and Christianity have their own laws for marriage, property and other civil matters. Efforts made by the BJP to bring a common civil code have met with protests by the Muslims and members of the pseudo secular Congress who call it another move of religious extremism. Funny or what??? :)
