While John Mark Karr is not actually in the photo
What, he's there figuratively? Or he snapped the shot? What?

Chopped off first paragraph some how...
Family members of John Mark Karr, the suspect in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, have found a Christmas Day 1996 photo that they believe indicates Karr was in Atlanta when the 6-year-old girl was killed in Colorado.

Well, it's better than nothing. If the family says he was there and the family was united, odds are he was there just as they said. I'm sure there's more than one Christmas that I'm not shown in any of the pictures since I'm the picture taker and avoid the front side of cameras at all costs.

They have a Christmas picture that they know is from 1996. It has Karr's kids in it. They know that Karr's kids were never there at Christmas without Karr. Ergo Karr was present also.
There has not been any indication I know of that any family member is inclined to falsely alibi for this measley pervert. Chances are that his 'confession' is phoney.

"At the time this happened 10 years ago, [John Mark] Karr was living in Alabama with his family they were a unified family at that time and they had no money," Harris said. "It wasn't like he could just run out and buy a plane ticket. It doesn't make any sense." But he could tool around Hamilton in a Red DELOREAN?????
This guy needs to shut up, he is doing more damage than good.

I can't tell you for sure where I was Christmas 1996, and probably don't have a dated photo, either. But I know exactly who I was with, my wife and kids, because we haven't spent a Christmas apart since we were married. Sounds like that was Karr's situation until he screwed up his life, went on the lam, and his wife divorced him.
The Boulder D.A. had better have had more solid evidence to arrest this guy on other than his "confession."

have no recollection of him missing a Christmas....HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF is NOT a defense...it's a hillary clinton line.

I don't think this clown killed her. The guy is a freak, no doubt, but I think he is playing a role and wants to be seen a some notorious bad guy. The guy was a suspect years ago and somehow they weren't able to pin it on him then. Something just doesn't smell right.
Sick s-o-b? Obviously.
Kill of JonBenet? I have my doubts at this point.

The guy is a perverted nut who fantasized so much about child killings that he has convinced himself that he committed the most infamous child killing in the recent past.
His family is just trying to make sense of things, given what they know.
If he really did it and he really wants everyone to know, why didn't he turn himself in on Day 1?

Actually, it does do a few things even if Karr is not in the photo.
The infant nephew would verify that the photo was taken around the time in question. The presence of Karr's kids *in Atlanta* means that they went to see other family members which would add to the number of potential witnesses that could testify that they remember the trip and saw Karr in Atlanta on that Christmas day.
If they had chosen to spend a quiet Christmas at home in Alabama, just him and his family, there would be no other adult to testify to his being home other than his wife who, the prosecution could argue, might have a faulty memory or is trying to protect the accused. If there are three or four family members who recall Karr being in Atlanta that Christmas, it will be much harder for the prosecution to refute.
Keep in mind, too, that it is the prosecution that has to prove Karr was in Boulder, not the defense that has to prove he was not.
Even if they establish that Karr was far enough away from Boulder that he had to fly to get there for Christmas night, his presence on a commercial flight manifest would surely have to come next or, perhaps, proof that he rented a motel room, etc.
I know when I see my sister's family, I'm always taking pictures because of my nieces and nephew. But, when I visit my other sister's family, I often don't take pictures because they don't like having their picture taken. Some family dynamics are just that way.
I do hope the Karrs made a copy of the photo or found the negative before turning it over to BPD. Exculpatory evidence like that has a way of disappearing sometimes when a prosecutor is desperate for a conviction.

Personally, I think this is a crack-pot child molester, but had nothing to do with the Ramsey murder.
However, I agree that this photo, without him in it, means NOTHING
At best, it could be something to jog the memory of other family members who would remember him there, but sending it to the Boulder Police is pointless.
