http://www.drudgereport.com/ ^

Posted on 08/20/2006 11:07:26 AM PDT by kcvl

Before takeoff, Karr took a glass of champagne from a flight attendant and clinked glasses with Spray, who sipped orange juice.

Dinner on board, served on a starched white tablecloth, was one many passengers would envy. Karr started with a pate, then had a green salad with walnut dressing. The main course was fried king prawn with steamed rice and broccoli. Karr drank a beer, crushing the can with his hands when it was empty, then moved on to a glass of French chardonnay with his main course.

If he's not crazy, even if he gets tagged for child porn elsewhere, he's going to make a LOT of money on a book deal.

The charges against him here were misdemeanors.
What they have increased to since he skipped town, I'm not sure.

"I wonder who is paying for these Business Class accommodations?"

Government money at work, I suspect.

I thought he was jailed by the Thais as a child molester sex tourist. Is that inaccurate?

I watched the news clips of Karr being interviewed in Thailand. Who was the man hanging on to Karrs' arm, the man with the printed shirt?

Does anybody remember Martin Short's Ed Grimley character?

Indeed, I must say.

"I thought he was jailed by the Thais as a child molester sex tourist"

We requested that the Thai authorities bring him in. They may have tried to come up with something if we decided not to take him back to the U.S., but as far as they knew, before our contacting them, he was just a teacher.

Yeah. I'll bet this guy is happy as a clam. He suckered the FBI into extraditing him, assured the dern fool attorneys will just salivate at the thought of the $$$$ involved, and set him loose to hurt other children. The FBI should have used their brain and let him fry in the justice of Thailand...

He was picked up by the Thai police at our request only. No charges in Thailand. He has been tried in CA in absentia (he fled). If nothing else, he will serve time here in CA.

OK. Well, if he's lying he can be prosecuted for making a false confession, perjury, interfering with a police investigation, or something else to throw him in the jug for, so fine.

You are correct nuconvert. And once he starts serving time, he probably won't have much left to serve.

"In Sonoma County, Karr spent nearly six months in jail awaiting trial on five misdemeanor charges of child pornography possession before he skipped a court date in December 2001 and never returned."

I think you are right. The charges he was convicted of were misdemeanors - post #37. Looks like a book deal and TV special.

So if you are ever stranded in Thailand, all you need to do to get a free first class trip home is confess to an unsolved murder in the U.S.

I'll bet he ends up getting a book deal out of it too.
