I think it was Greta. He looked like the sketch -- hair combed exactly the same way. Eerie.

Location confirmation is what I'm waiting for, more so than DNA. Although extremely helpful, DNA testing is neither perfect nor absolute. First things first.

If Mr. Karr is guilty, why did he choose $118,000 as the ransom amount? The mystery continues.

One thing I noticed right off the bat on the writing. The only usable samples from the year book are the bottom of page onw and the bottom of page two. The long missive on page one was written attempting a "fancy style" and while it will help establish some writing patterns it is not very useful.

The bottom of page one and two though are probably his standard handwriting at that time. Writing will change over the years (injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc etc) but the fundamental letter formations will stay relatively intact.

One thing I notice immediately is the Bottom 2 samples.. the L's are identical. Some other letters are similar, but it will take an expert to make a determination.

Woman logged conversations with JonBenet murder suspect

PETALUMA, Calif. There are published reports that a California woman exchanged e-mails and recorded hours of phone conversations with the suspect in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case.

That's being reported by The Press Democrat of Santa Rosa.

Wendy Hutchens reportedly told authorities about her 2001 conversations with John Mark Karr weeks before he was arrested on misdemeanor child pornography charges.

According to the newspaper, a man with a Southern accent heard on the tapes discusses details surrounding JonBenet's strangulation. But the excerpts of the tape did not contain a confession by Karr.

Karr remains in jail in Thailand, where he claimed he was with the six-year-old beauty queen when she was killed in Boulder, Colorado, in 1996.

Local informant taped, logged odd conversations with Karr in 2001
Detail suspect's fixation with Klaas, young girls
By KATY HILLENMEYER

Five years before he confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey, John Karr exchanged phone conversations and e-mails detailing his fixation with the 6-year-old’s 1996 slaying and the 1993 murder of Petaluma’s Polly Klaas, according to a Sonoma County woman who became a police informant.

Wendy Hutchens, 49, said she has detailed phone logs, e-mails and tape recordings of phone conversations with Karr in 2001, weeks before he was arrested on five misdemeanor child pornography charges.

Asked to comment Friday on Hutchens’ reliability and truthfulness, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Lt. Dave Edmonds said: “I’m not going to make any characterizations about any involved parties.”

He declined to discuss the role Hutchens may have played in their investigations, saying “we won’t discuss the inner workings of any case.”

Boulder investigators, the FBI and authorities in Napa County would not comment on the investigation and would not verify Hutchens’ claims that she has 20 hours of taped phone conversations with Karr prior to his arrest on misdemeanor child pornography charges.

Hutchens said she made the tapes at the request of FBI and Sonoma County investigators.

They paint a picture of a man eager to meet Klaas’s convicted killer, Richard Allen Davis; who was attracted to young female murder victims; and claimed to connect with them supernaturally.

In one late-night phone conversation, a soft-spoken man with a southern accent describes the circumstances surrounding JonBenet’s strangulation:

“She was in a lot of pain before she died and suffered and was tortured. There is physical evidence of that. What a shame. It’s shameful. That person did that to the most beautiful girl in the world.”

Excerpts of the tape, played for a Press Democrat reporter by Hutchens, do not contain a confession by Karr. But the rambling conversations with Hutchens reveal a man obsessed with young girls, claiming a deep “spiritual connection” with Klaas and other deceased children like her.

“How would that person apologize for such an atrocity?,” the caller identified as Karr says, referring to JonBenet’s killer. “Would that person say, ‘I strangled your daughter and it was so accidental and I was so afraid?’”

Hutchens’ name appears in a judge’s order granting Karr’s supervised release after he was charged with possession of child pornography in 2001, after he served six months in jail. He violated terms of release and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Karr was ordered to stay away from Hutchens by the judge.

Today, the 49-year-old Hutchens said she wonders why John and Patsy Ramsey remained the focus of suspicion so many years after their daughter’s strangulation death, when in 2001 she alerted local detectives and the FBI to Karr’s obsessions.

“Five years ago he was sitting in jail (in Sonoma County). It just breaks my heart,” the former Petaluma woman said. “I felt so bad for the Ramseys. If there was a possibility that he did it, I wanted them to investigate him.”

Karr was arrested in Thailand earlier this week. In his only public statements, made after he was in custody, Karr said: “I was with JonBenet when she died. ... Her death was an accident.”

Does John Mark Karr have a spilt personality disorder?

"I was there when she died, but it was an accident"

Then the ransom note... Starting with "We"

Then there is this... (go to link and read the full story)
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4926302,00.html

Karr writes an email to the CU Prof, with it titled "Pretty Little Boy" (but it sounds like Karr emailed a picture of him holding a teddy bear on Christmas day when he was a little boy due to the title of the email "Pretty Little Boy", but he seems to forget that he mailed the photo to the CU Prof.)

then Karr writes...

Karr then wrote about his anger that a third person had provided Tracey with a photograph of him. "You NEVER said he HAD a photo of me," Karr wrote. "This changes everything. You have everything but my name and fingerprints. This comes as a major blow. Why did you not tell me this in the past?"

One of e-mails obtained by the News began with Karr chiding Tracey for failing to respond to an earlier message entitled, "Pretty Little Boy."

That e-mail included what appears to be a back-and-forth exchange - a passage from Tracey and an answer from Karr. However, it appears that Karr took a Tracey e-mail and then inserted his answers after each paragraph.

At one point, Tracey wrote to Karr, "I'm also curious as to why you feel that talking to me is dangerous and that you have shared too much."

Karr wrote back: "I was the subject of at lease (sic) a four-state federal investigation for child murder and child molestation. These people were not finished with me when I left the U.S. I cannot return. Since you have never been through something like this in your own life, you cannot know the paranoia it causes. You mentioned you have access to my photograph after talking to you for at least two years. I have reason to be concerned. Consider, if you will, post-traumatic stress."

A later e-mail included "Resend of Pretty Little Boy" in its subject line.

Again, it appeared to include a back-and-forth exchange.

"This is a letter that was sent on October 10th," Karr wrote. "I have found that you are easily overwhelmed and, when so, you seem to stop responding altogether. That being said, I am also responding to your last mail and will prepare a short message for JonBenet for Christmas night. Please check your mail each day prior to Christmas. Don't stop responding now."

Karr then wrote about his anger that a third person had provided Tracey with a photograph of him. "You NEVER said he HAD a photo of me," Karr wrote. "This changes everything. You have everything but my name and fingerprints. This comes as a major blow. Why did you not tell me this in the past?"

At another point, Karr responded to Tracey's challenge to follow through on his pledge to be "intense and thorough."

"Oh, Michael," Karr wrote, "I was referring to you - not me. I AM intense and thorough. I wanted you to be more intense and thorough in your responses to me. Your desire from me is that I cut to the chase and be specific about locations, names and all the other elements that journalist (sic) look for in a story. I am sorry that this is not the way I express myself about this matter."

Karr wrote later that his father was a "strong influence but rarely around," and then responded to Tracey's question about whether his "fascination with little girls - which clearly has a strong erotic component - is a way of going back."

"Maybe I am not going back but have simply stayed consistent," Karr wrote. "My peer group has not changed since I was a little boy, and girls were the people I was with always. Referring to them as a peer group is somewhat incorrect, but might also be the very definition of what they continue to be in my life."

At another point, Tracey wrote, "You told me once that your mother tended to raise you as a girl. This must have had a powerful effect on your developing sexuality - confusion maybe?"

Karr responded: "Michael, I will not discuss my sexuality as if it is a psychological disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In my case, I disagree with that totally, and if this is to be the way we progress in discussing it, I might as well stop while I am ahead.

That ransom note is really wacky. It does read like some effeminate male and/or loopy Muslim wrote it (the part about beheading kinda does that). Or Wile E Coyote. If this guy wrote it, did he have a fascination with Islamic terror? OKC was the year before, when a bunch of kids were killed in the daycare center. Did he obsess about that too? What's that SBTC supposed to be, South Boulder Terror Cell?

Looks rather sarcastic. Reminds me of those stupid muslim terrorists in "True Lies" [1994]. Maybe that's why the perp(s) were never found... "no evidence linking this to terrorist activity in Boulder, nothing to see here...". Come to think of it, JonBenet in her little outfits would have surely attracted sicko mad Mo worshipers.

Never occurred to me that this case might have anything to do with Islam, but... ? Is the foil wrapped thick enough?

Wendy Murphy today said that the Ramsey's went to Georgia the day they found her dead?? Is that true....anyone remember this????

NOT true, according to this timeline: Timeline

IIRC, from reading Perfect Murder, Perfect Town, there was a bit of internal PD/DA office wrangling over whether or not to release JonBenet's body.

Problem with talking heads is that they spend too much time shuttling from one interview to the next and not nearly enough time spent fact-checking.

Better go looking for my Christmas pictures, just in case!

Seriously, folks....

LOL good one..
Well, Here is what comes to mind when i see this sicko on tv.

My best girlfriend of (40) years, whom i knew just about as well as myself....suddenly at the age of 45 became paranoid skitzophrenic. She was perfectly normal all of her life prior to this major falling apart .
She somehow got it in her head that she was going to jail, came up with this long, very detailed story as to how she had been robbing her current employer, selling merchandise to a man by the name of Joe, who stopped in the store 2x a month to buy things from her that she had taken. The details were unbelievable. The sad part was, that she honestly believed all of this in her own mind. She looked me straight in the eye, with big tears in her eyes, with her confessions. Of course this all was proven to be total fabrication. She really had me convinced gang.
Keep in mind...Mentally ill people come up with some pretty crazy stories that they actually believe.
I hope this case is coming to an end, but really have my doubts.

The 'gruesome' condition of Jonbenet's body, details of torture/sexual assault/possibly rape, oral or anally, too. God knows what happened to this child besides strangulation and an horrific blow to the head, but a pedophile like Karr might be able to guess exact details even if he's not the killer. A few days ago, Fox had on a well-known forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Somethingorother, a German name. He said chillingly, that murdering Jonbenet was the killer's Christmas present to himself.

I'm starting to wonder if there's a little missing girl in the history of this family.

He wrote "Angelicy Forevermore" in the yearbook. His twin babies were named Angel and innocence. He delivered them at home and they both died.

How do the babies and yearbook relate timewise?

Were there any suspicious little girl deaths either in his family or neighborhood when he was a kid? Did he have any sisters? Ordinary people, so things would have been just kept local at the time. But I'd go all the way back to BEFORE the yearbook. Did he have a girlfriend that he called Angel?

Look at the "y"s.

Best matches are at your 3rd inset (the one with the original reference to "SBTC" in caps). "Sometimes, so blurred by my own eyes....[and]...simultaneously". Compare that to the ransom note just above it...look for: "If we catch you talking to a stray dog....If you alert bank authorities...."

In both examples, the y's have a little rightward tail at the bottom. The tops are also very similar.

Further note:

Look at the top of the yearbook page.
See the word "you" directly above the "neer" in Buccaneer?
("...personality enables you...")

Now compare that to the sentence at the end of your snip of the ransom note.
("...might call you early..")

I swear the "you"s are virtually identical.

Why choose $118,000? Because it was sooooo recent. The note says: I know a lot about you. I even know this and that was only yesterday. It goes with the "we're watching you".

The stationary is the same message, i.e., stolen from the house to prove he HAD BEEN WATCHING.

Karr would have stayed nearby right after the murder and probably bought up newspapers, already accumulating book material.

This dude travels all over the world and we don't know where his money is coming from. For all we know, he has a remote place in Colorado. He's reminding me more and more of the tactics of the unabomber...all over the place but has a stash of writing materials "someplace".
