Truly ludicrous casting in that movie -- made all the more farcical by the abominably dialog and the Duke's stilted acting style

How about Cagney and Bogart in a western?

"The Conqueror" - As many of Duke's movies that I have, I haven't seen or bought that one......yet.
I do have "The Return of Doctor X" along with 76 of Bogart's 80 movies.

Back in 2000, I spent 3 months working in Stuttgart. I spent a lot of time renting and watching movies from the PX on the local US Army bases there. I rented all five ape movies one Friday and watched them over the weekend.
I never wanted to see Roddy McDowall again!!!!

I guess I could call it nostalgia, or a guilty pleasure - when my parents first got cable in the early 1980's, I think I watched that movie a dozen times. As a kid, I dug it.
How many movies fall into that pattern though - spend the first half assembling a rag-tag team of misfits, and spend the second half killing them all off (except the one main character and his lady who you just know will make it.) There's probably dozens.

Yeah, I wish the quality was better too. I've watched this show a couple of times and it's been a little cheesey, but this act is fantastic!

Why is "Bastard Out of Carolina" listed?
Have you seen it--- it's not funny, nor is it a bad movie (extremely disturbing) but very true to life for some of us growing up around that time and place.

Yes. Stock plots are a successful species.
I think the Sci-Fi uses a computerized stock plot generator for its made for TV films.
The variables must go something like this: 1)name a monster, 2)name a setting 3) name a natural disaster to complicate things going into the third act.

Even that poster for Savage Pampas is awesomely bad since the Indian with the full headress is a North American Plains Indian, not dressed at all like an Indian of the Argentine Pampas. It is the equivalent of portraying Scottish Highlanders dressed like Cossacks.

LOL!
I'm nitpicky like that too....
I used to crack up at Bonanza because the women often had zippers in their dresses, full blue eye shadow and Bee-hive hairdos with a bun stuck on the back for 'authenticity'.
