They well might have more than a confession, but the DA sure didn't sound confident. And there a lot of holes to be filled in.

His actions, his voice, the whole thing reminds me of Tony Perkins....even the stature. Wow...I can still hear that shower and that sound like it was yesterday.

One question: She spoke of a sealed affidavit. If arraigned, will that automatically be unsealed or is it at the discretion of the judge?

That is up to the judge. The affidavit is sealed at first so the perp does not know what evidence they have or don't have, and also so the press doesn't go completely wild with it. After the arraignment, the judge has the discretion to unseal the affidavit or if he feels unsealing it would be prejudicial to either side, he may choose to keep it sealed.

To be able to afford to travel as much as he does, you'd think he'd have to have additional financial resources (besides a teacher salary alone).

He also told family he'd been arrested in 2001 for killing Jon Bonet when in fact he'd been arrested on child pornography charges.

He couldn't answer a fair number of questioned posed to him by the media, which could easily be explained away, I suppose, but he seemed all too willing to talk about other matters.

As well, the family says they have family photographs from that Christmas which shows he was with them that year. We'll see if that pans out, but Christmas time is something the wife would remember pretty well, especially since they have kids.

What would we do without Helen Thomas? I think FR receives $20 every time someone posts this pic in particular. :O)

If he's been missing for years he probably owes back child support.

Where did you spend Christmas 1996?

I spent mine in Montgomery, AL with my wife and 3 children. Not sure if any other family was there for Christmas, would have to check photo albums to be sure. LOL. and yes that is said seriously. I do know my sister was there but don't remember right off hand if she was there Christmas, or if she came down for New Years.

This affidavit may lead to more "cold case" files being looked at. Is this why the guy is all over the place??

I had to gag while listening to NG on XM last night. NG was not in-don't know who the sub was. She and her guest made several points:

One reason so many people thought Patsy was guilty was because she did not "act" right.

Perdogg: you can appreciate the following because you follow the lax case. (Warning: sit down.) The one lesson to be learned is to always cooperate with LE, tell them what they want to know. If you are honest and sincere, sooner or later the veil of suspicion will lift.

The hypocrisy of these people kills me.

Karr may or may not be the perp. If he is the perp and he murdered JonBenet, John Ramsey showed grace and class last night. Something he and Patsy never had.

Couldn't the same be said for his family? Their stories didn't match. That makes them unreliable. Watch their stories to come together now.

I've seen a million times how families will either lie or convince themselves that a certain fact is true, because for some reason their minds just can't handle the fact that the person they've loved fo rall those years isn't quite the person they thought he was .

And yes, if I knew anyone in my family who was a criminal on the level this guy is (even without the Ramsey issue), I wouldn't be supporting him or her. There are things one can do to break that family bond and committing evil acts is one of them.

Again, I'm not saying the guy is guilty, only that in this cse, the family stories aren't that reliable.

There was mention yesterday of another case in CA close to where he previously lived. He MAY be innocent of Jon's death but quilty of others.

And is there not a lesson for US to learn from that BTK press conference? A bare press conference does not mean the guy's innocent.

I don't know if this guy is guilty or delusional. However, I think that those whose profession it is to pursue justice need to stick with doing just that, and forget the PR work. Since most questions can't be answered in these pressers, the better thing would be to issue a written statement of what can be disclosed and get back to the business of investigating the case at hand. They can give themselves a pat on the back after the guy is found guilty.

There was simply no reason to even hold a press conference except to give each other kudos and have some face time (politics).

Agree. Don't know when this sort of thing started to become so common, but it seems to be the norm these days. Total waste of time.

BTW, here in L.A. there has been a horrible murder of a woman by a long-time captain of the Fire Department (think his rank was captain; definitely a senior FD guy, though). Evidence seems to show that he dragged her at the back of his car for several blocks. The trail of blood, body tissue and even tire marks led from where the body was found to the guy's house. He was home when arrested yesterday.

What I want to point out about this is the absolute untrustworthiness of the media. Yesterday, before the cops had a chance to nail down the ID of the victim and notify the family, some local reporter managed to get the license plate number of the woman's car (still parked near the scene) and got the ID info from DMV. The reporter goes to the woman's house. The woman's 12-13-year-old daughter opens the door, and the reporter shoves a mic in her face and asks about the murder of the child's mother.

Never, ever trust the media.
