Jon Benet Ramsey Suspect a Sonoma County Fugitive (California)
KRON ^ | August 16, 2006

PETALUMA (KRON) -- It now appears the only person ever arrested in connection with the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey once taught in Petaluma schools.

The Sonoma County district attorney's office is now confirming 42-year old John Mark Karr was charged with possession of child pornography in April, 2001. Other reports indicate Karr served as a substitute teacher in the Petaluma elementary school system.

Prosecutors say Karr failed to show in court in December, 2001. He's been a fugitive ever since.

Thai police arrested Karr Wednesday in connection with the Jon Benet Ramsey case. The little girl was found dead in her Boulder, Colorado home the day after Christmas, 1996.

He wasn't just a pedophile. He was deeply interested in both the Klaas and the Ramsey murders. That equals future killer if he didn't already murder JonBenet.

Does it? We have people at FR that are deeply interested in both cases. A lot of crime buffs and wannabe slueths are.

I spent a lot of time researching the Kennedy assassination. Doesn't mean I have any interest in shooting a president (surely if I wasn't tempted to do it for Clinton, I'm never going to do it - LOL)

Karr's obviously a sick puppy and I'm glad he's going to be put away somewhere. But I still need to see a stronger tie to a) murder b) this murder and c) ability to actually commit this murder before I'm willing to accept that he did it.

In ANY murder conviction, you must prove means, motive and opportunity. So far, all we have is maybe motive.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that is all they have? Unless you are inside the investigation, you don't know jack.

Yes, it does equal future killer, because the guy was already a pedophile. A pedophile who is deeply interested in child murders cannot be compared to people on Free Republic who are interested in the case because they want to play Nancy Drew. Two entirely different situations. All it takes for someone in Karr's state is a trigger of some sort which will lead to the first murder. And once there's the first murder, there's no going back.

Again, we don't yet if he is JonBenet's killer, but it's a darn good thing they caught him when they did, because if he hasn't killed yet, he's very likely to kill at some point in the future.

The problem in assigning blame to this guy...is the fact that the murderer spent at least two hours in the house...with the parents there...writing the note there on the scene. You would have to have a huge amount of patience and guts to sit in the house and do all the actions that he committed. And the thing is....if he did do it....it was all purely for murder. The note written was purely to throw people off the track. If this is proven....then I would suspect that he has done this numerous times and we need to review his entire history.

BINGO! This wasn't just one crime. This was 1) breaking and entering, 2) kidnapping 3) child molestation and 4) murder. Before anyone blinks on the kidnapping part, I'm assuming that JBR was taken from either her bedroom or the kitchen by force to the basement.

All we really know now is that the guy is a perv. Where's his history of doing any of the other three things? And if he has none, why hasn't he done it in ten years since the murder of JBR when he's clearly had ample opportunities?

A total amateur at this, even if he's skilled at luring little girls into seclusion and exposing his wee-wee, is apt to cause several blunders commiting the other three crimes - particularly if he's never been to this house and doesn't even know his way around the neighborhood.

If Karr did it, I want him to fry but I see more holes in this scenario so far than I see answers. Maybe BPD will give us some answers but - at this point in time - I just don't see enough here to connect him.

I notice he never picked any families without girls. Sick how he must have been with those children -- the parents must be shuddering. I bet he was a world traveler, had to keep moving. I can't believe he escaped justice all this time.

No. I follow true crime cases and believe me, I am no future killer. A lot of people do, or Greta VS would not have been able to afford her face lift.

The article says the Ramseys gave Karr's name to investigators. I wonder how they knew him? Did he ever tutor their kids?

I don't see where this article says that the Ramsey's gave his name to investigators. It says that they knew about the suspect before Patsy's death. I think you are misinterpreting that. I take that to mean that the police department told the Ramseys that they a suspect they were investigating. It's a long article and I might have overlooked something can you point me to it if I did?

I already explained that I was referring to the fact that he was a pedophile PLUS his interest in child murders. That's no t the same as a normal person's interest in these cases.

The cookie for that is in my 'Explore' TIF folder. I just spotted it along with another one that's REALLY raw by the Bloodhound Gang. Everything else pertaining to his website when you backtrack on the cookies is gone.

I think that law enforcement and the media needs to give the Ramsey family a apology for maligning them for 10 years.
