Arrest in JonBenet Ramsey Case Expected "Shortly"
8.16.06 | Michael King

Posted on 08/16/2006 1:17:08 PM PDT by mhking

An arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case is due to happen "shortly," according to sources in our newsroom -- I know I can't post the link to our site (we're a Gannett station, and despite the "ban", I would welcome the traffic), but most of you know where I work and what the site is...

According to our sister station in Denver, an arrest took place early this morning in Thailand.

Stand by for details and updates as they come in.

"Throw that monster in the penitentiary and he won't last one week."
people always say that but I never hear of it actually happening.....although, I wish it would( sorry, Lord)

It does happen. Had a grand jury case where the accused nearly lost his life in a holding cell waiting for his court appearance.

If the guy can change his first name, he can certainly use different versions of his last name. Maybe that's what the reporters and web sleuths are going by...same person different name spellings.

It makes no sence to me that a mother, even if she had an affair with some creep, would to her dying day, shield the perp. There is nothing in Patsy Ramey’s back round that would suggest she was that indifferent to the fate of her daughter.

Not sure about the stalking..but there might be a familiar connection there somewhere.

I read he was interviewed at the onset of this case, but I can't confirm it as a fact.

Thank God, if he turns out to be the one that did it I hope he is executed.

Perhaps it is a stretch...however i don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility that he could have somehow picked up on details of the case that are not known to the general public. For instance, information could have inadvertantly been supplied to him during the emailings that were alluded to earlier in the thread.

And phony confessions, believe it or not, are quite common in high profile cases.

I agree. Making up stories to fit a "mom's guilty" or "dad's guilty" scenario is getting old. People should just admit that a person outside the family was a pedophile creep all by his lonesome and didn't need "help."

Because since she was one of the reporters who covered the case in the beginning, she's likely to have more knowledge of the case than just a random reporter would.

I get that - but there's no person fitting the description with that spelling, yet there is with Carr. As I said, "whatever."

This is a strange case. All I can say is that in my opinion the facts of the case indicate that one or both of the parents has not told everything they know to the police and prosecutors. The timing of this arrest, shortly after Patsy's death, suggests that Patsy knew this suspect. If so, the extent to which she covered for this suspect is uncertain, but keep in mind that Patsy could have been in some legal jeopardy herself.

I didn't say she was. Only tossed out theories while we waited for more information.

Obviously, the primary fault is with the killer. But I don't think it's advisable to simply ignore the contribution of parents or anyone else who has taken actions which could reasonably be expected to put a child at risk. If a family visits Manhattan with their young daughter, and lets her go exploring the Times Square area by herself after dark, and the girl gets kidnapped and forced into the child porn industry, obviously the kidnappers and pornographers are the most guilty parties, but it was also completely irresponsible of the parents to put their naive little girl at such risk.

Pointing out the danger of certain activities that parents allow or encourage their children to participate in, helps other parents think twice before following the same course, and thus can save other children from horrible fates. I will not apologize for pointing such things out, because the safety of innocent children is far more important than enabling irresponsible parents to feel good about themselves by not letting them hear negative things said about their choices.
