DURHAM, N.C. -- A cab driver who has supported an alibi offered by one of the three Duke lacrosse players charged with rape had his own court appearance Tuesday for a larceny charge.
Moezeldin Elmostafa, 37, appeared briefly before a Durham County District Court judge who set a trial date of Aug. 29. Prosecutors also changed the charge against Elmostafa to aiding and abetting misdemeanor larcency.
Elmostafa was arrested in May after he surfaced as a potential alibi witness for Reade Seligmann, one of three players charged with raping a woman at an off-campus party the night of March 13.
The 2003 warrant accused Elmostafa of stealing five purses worth about $250 from a Durham department store. Elmostafa denies the charge, and has said he helped store security locate a woman after he picked her up from the store and drove her home. The woman later pleaded guilty to larceny.
Durham prosecutors said in May the warrant for Elmostafa's arrest was discovered in a routine background check of witnesses in the Duke lacrosse case.
Mostafa has said Seligmann, of Essex Fells, N.J., called for a ride at 12:14 a.m. on March 14, and was picked up five minutes later. The defense has argued those times help establish that Seligmann left the party without having enough time to participate in the 30-minute assault described by the accuser. Seligmann's attorney has also presented cell phone, ATM and dorm keycard records to help establish that timeline.

This is what I think is happening too. The Media is totally willing to accept implausible explanations and have a totally different standard in this case.
Is the Media inquiring what is going on with the investigation of Gottlieb? Of course, NOT.
They are NEVER going to come around. They will look at certain evidence - and Broadcast and Magnify it - and they'll simply ignore other evidence.

exactly! don't forget all the cleaning up the did before fleeing the scene before the cops got there. Maybe Nifong and Gottbutt have found the body sized, no evidence emitted condoms they used, that could be the smoking gun.

How many times have you known the result of test by the reaction of medical personnel? I can remember three occassions in my personal experience where I knew there was a problem without being told anything yet .
If someone takes the time to look at the case in a different light (someone in the media) - it would become evident.
She's providing convenient answers when they benefit her.
She needs flexiril - I have terrible pain. WHY didn't DUKE MED give you pain medication ? I was very drunk and feeling no pain.
She's going for involuntary commitment for 72 hours - and Oh, I was raped.

Almost 3 days later, when she's telling a fantasy to Police - they stop her and say - so you were strangled? Of course, the story grows to fit her current situation. I suspect she was driven by her habit - people with a habit are used to making up stories and convincing others of a story in order to get the desired result. They also live very much in the moment. Day 1 - her overriding goal is to avold commitment. Day 2 - her goal is to get Flexiril , etc.

Ok, I was wondering if there was any correlation between when he finally finished his report and the incident, but the article said his report was turned over to the defense I think on the 17th.
Even so, he writes this report about this poor victim who was raped and called names and then he turns around and calls an innocent cook the same name?

The News and Observer knew a BALD man was the Ringleader according to the cook, when they led an article on the subject like this:
"DURHAM - District Attorney Mike Nifong should be worried THAT THE LEAD DETECTIVE in the Duke lacrosse rape case is being investigated over a late-night brawl outside a Raleigh sports bar, former Durham prosecutors said Monday."
They don't say he should be worried because Clayton was there or other officers were there - and they were - they say "LEAD DETECTIVE".
They always know more than they report - and that's why Gottlieb was the only officer's picture plastered next to the articles in various papers - IMO.
