Um, if Arthur McGowan isn't around tonight, I should offer you some helpful tips.
You see, joining a ping list is like choosing a fraternity or sorority. You have to drink a lot, strip naked, and then do weird things like the Chicken Dance in your local Walmart parking lot.
After that (it must be proved by videotape) the different ping list masters will decide if you are worthy enough for their lists.

Here's an example of how to get on a ping list. Open one of the "Gods, Graves, and Glyphs" threads (anything dealing with archaeology, history, and cultural issues, usually ancient or medieval). Respond to the person who posted the thread with the request, Please put me on your ping list. GGG is a high-volume ping list and for easy reference, often you can find GGG listed under Topics on the sidebar.

Well, a "pinger' is a slang for an electromagnetic pulse generator. Pretty sizable and heavy capacitor battery, tuning inductance, a spark gap switch plus a parabolic antenna and a few more parts. You "ping" - and fry all the unprotected electronics in vicinity. Those with pacemakers should avoid it like plague.

I don't mean to brag, but sweetie, you've never been pinged until you've been pinged by Allegra or me.
We own all the best ping list categories and are considered by our pingees to be the undisputed Masters of Ping.
For example, Allegra (also known as the Tigress of the Tigris) owns the "Donkeys of Mass Destruction" ping list.
I (a.k.a. Ocelot of the San Jacinto) am in possession of the "Camels of Mass Destruction" ping list.
In addition, Allegra and I share various naked-theme ping lists and other ping lists of marvelous oddity.
If you have any doubts that Allegra and I are the keepers of FR's most intriguing ping lists, just ask Flyer... or sign up and experience it for yourself.

Happy, now? :) After awhile- you realize you only THOUGHT you wanted to be pinged. Then you find yourself looking for HEAD ON.
