Salem-News.com (August 10,2006 14:00) Bomb Squads Roll out to Two Salem Locations Salem-News.com Residents should stay clear of Roth's IGA on Lancaster and Salem Hospital
(SALEM) -Local area police are on the scene of two suspected suspicious devices in Salem. Information is scarce, but both Salem and State Police bomb squads have been deployed according to Salem Police.
One of the locations is the Roth's IGA store at 702 Lancaster Drive NE in Salem.
The other location is Salem Hospital at 665 Winter Street SE.
Let's wait to see what the "suspicious devices" are first. A few years back "bomb making materials" were found near here. It turned out to be a gallon of gas in the back of a pickup and a bic lighter on the seat. Thank you BATF.
I'm less and less inclined to believe in coincidence when it comes to clusters of events such as these.
Guess we'll have to wait for the rest of the story.
The bomb squad already blew one up.
Don't know about Oregon, but in PA regional hospitals have been identified as prime terrorist targets.
Also, there was the "Portland 7" - a group of suspected terrorists that were arrested. Salem is only 45 minutes south of Portland.
Having said that, the feeling around here is that it's a lone, disgruntled nut.
