Well .. that got your attention.
Actually, the thought got mine .. I figured I'd throw it out and see what happened.

I realize that the Constitution limits a President to two terms.
But I seem to recall that, if, in the event of a national emergency and Marshall Law has been established .. couldn't President Bush stay in office?
Here's my thought(s);
Overnight we have been informed that there has been an arrest of some 21 murdering lunatics in London ... Iraq has been on the screen for 3 years, Israel is escalating her retaliation to hezbollah .. and it seems that the violent turmoil of this earth is itself getting more and more in our face, and worth a focussed, concerted effort to put this Islamic invasion against the human race in the trash bin of history.
There are now two very brave men willing to meet the challenge .. George Bush and Tony Blair.
I realize too .. that there is always a danger for any one man to have power for any length of time beyond what wisdom and law has established.
BUT ...
Is there anyone in the wings we'd feel comfortable with, Republican or Democrat, to continue with the direction (which I think is as right as can be .. considering) and momentum already established and in operation?
I know a few names have been bounced around here, but are any of them in the same thought pattern that I, for one, would not want to see broken?
I think President Bush is the man for this time in history and, unless another of like mindedness arises .. we may see the complete destruction of any semblance of the united states of America our founding fathers envisioned, pledged, fought and died for.
I hope this thread does not deteriorate into "flame knarf" as I see this as a real possibility and would like some feedback.
Thanks

Couldn't possibly happen. Not worth debating.

No.
Even in times of war, we have always had elections on time.
And, by the way, it's "martial law" not "Marshall law".

Marital Law, perhaps?

Appreciate your sentiment, but I don't think it will happen.
I think that conducting our "bidness" as usual sends a powerful signal to the rest of the world.

Doesn't matter. Bush can't stay. Presumably we'd follow the "tie in the electoral college" method if the elections could not go forward. Congress would decide the next CIC but Bush would not be among the candidates.

But I seem to recall that, if, in the event of a national emergency and Marshall Law has been established .. couldn't President Bush stay in office? I'll limit myself to this question: Who is Marshall Law?
Hint: Definition of martial law, which we are not under BTW.

Marital Law, perhaps? That's the one where I do everything my wife tells me to do, right?

"Marshall" law?
We don't need to be talking about this. We need to foloow the Constitution and elect a new President, hopefully a more conservative one.
