Madonna has invited Pope Benedict XVI to be the guest of honor at her Rome, Italy, Confessions concert on Sunday, which features the mock crucifixion of the singer. Religious leaders in Italy and The Vatican have united to publicly denounce the singer's controversial stage act, in which she is 'crucified' on a diamante-studded cross, while wearing a crown of thorns.
Ersilio Cardinal Tonino, speaking on behalf of The Pope, said yesterday, "This concert is a blasphemous challenge to the faith and a profanation of the cross. She should be ex-communicated. To crucify herself during the concert in the city of Popes and martyrs is an act of open hostility."
Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg tells the New York Daily News, "I think the Pope would enjoy the show and would applaud her performance. He has an open invitation to see for himself the eloquence and beauty that Madonna expresses for humanity while performing her poignant song 'Live To Tell.'"
She's more in need of an exorcism than an excommunication.
You're exactly correct. As I said on another thread, this sort of blasphemy is not daring or edgy -- it is dull, trite, vapid, conventional, safe, unimaginative and conformist.
What a skank!
She needs Jesus.
True rebels will always be the ones who rebel to ascend to a higher place. Like you say, Madonna descends. She doesn`t accomplish anything, except to sell herself and her plastic discs. A true rebel is someone like this.....

Or this heroic 16 year old girl who gave her life for what she knew was right....

Madonna is not a rebel, Madonna is pond scum. I respect her no more than the cockroaches in my sewer. Not because I choose to, but because she demands it.
And the main reason the media is such a cheerleader for "entertainers" like this is because they tear down the moral fabric we, as a Judeo-Christian culture and society, once held dear.
Jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge is always a good one too.
Is it OK to hope that's next?
Unfortunately, this creature sold her soul a long time ago.
In a Flannery O'Connor short story, this "scene" would end with a bolt of lightning from heaven increasing her body temperature to about 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit for a few milliseconds or so...
Frank the budding novelist
Perhaps the Lord will grant her the Stigmata as an invitation to know Him as He is.
That you should mention Flannery. An absolute master in her own right. Her short stories, The Misfit. Wise Blood. The Strong Bear it Away and A Good Man is Hard to Find. I digress, as I usually do.
Another scenario though. A small boy, his mind twisted and warped by crude interpretations of the bible. He sets fire to Madonnas mansion. He believes he has purified Madonna.
Seriously though, I care not for the woman, or whether she goes smiling to the grave. I do care for what example she has set young women. They do not get away unscathed, that SHE has, defies logic.
Her "sex" period demonstrated that at heart she is an exhibitionist who wants to be noticed no matter what it takes.
What a sad existence.
Utterly vile and classless skank.

Definitely.
But if he does,my guess is that "Madonna" will wish that he hadn't.
