The Dixie Chicks' Oct. 7 concert at Sunrise's BankAtlantic Center has been canceled. No one wants to say precisely why or whether the show will be rescheduled -- at press time a venue official said confirmation is forthcoming, and the Chicks camp in Nashville did not return phone calls or e-mails.
But according to Pollstar, the concert industry's trade organization, the Oct. 7 date is now reserved for a concert in Australia.
The conservative country music community has had a beef with the Chicks ever since lead singer Natalie Maines spoke out against President Bush and later criticized country fans for their reactions. Ticket sales in Red States have been sluggish throughout the tour.
They are very talented but their music sucks.
They suck!
You weren't saying I was the one who said "Chicks suck bigtime", right? You were commenting on the "think for yourself", right? :)
right...the quote was from GABulldog...I believe
Why thankyou for noticing. Its a tough job, but I try my darndest.
I agree. Willie, whatever his strange views may be, is a real country musician.
And I never heard the early Dixie Chicks, so I'll take your word for it that they were better.
She's a liberal, she's already unhappy.
I predict she'll make someone else unhappy.
98.3 WCCQ is okay, but both US 99 and CCQ tend to favor slow songs for some reason. XM radio has some decent country stations. Highway 16 is pretty good.
LMAO!! You are so right! They are insane for Kenny Chesney. Sort of like how the Loop is all AC/DC all the time.
Oh no. My husband wants to go to Bosco's in Hillsboro Village. Are we going to be too annoyed with in-our-face-hippiness to enjoy ourselves?
It's kinda hard to fill seats when your fans are not ready to make nice.
Touche'
If they had just promoted the album and left the politics alone they might have done better.
In a previous post you said to me, "A person should READ before they respond."
Does that apply to you too? Where did I even once suggest that it was MY opinion that the DC were "bad musicians"? Not once! I only suggested that SOME people may not agree with your OPINION that the DC were good musicians, as you say they are. You even said in a previous post to someone not to call the DC "bad musicians". What right do you have to tell someone that they cannot call the DC bad musicians? You haven't been made the sole authority on this subject last time I checked. Several posters have a different OPINION than you do, is that OK, or should we all be of one mind on this subject? I thought you were not a fan of "group-think". No?
You said, "...you are a fool." I am? Wow, I learn something new on this forum everyday!
Both of my home cities are on that list.
I rarley listen to country music - heard a song here and there from some of their early albums - liked a couple, disliked a couple of more. Not something I was likely to spend money on.
At this point, I will never spend money on a album from them. Lots of good music for me to buy - I can listen the rest of my life and not hear it all - won't waste my time with the Dixie Chicks - hey you have to find some kind of filter.
I've got a Willie Nelson Christmas album :)
You ought to here that mono tone Fa La La La La...
If you think they make good music... Your a musicallectual idiot....
Actually, he prefaced it with "...if you think..." He should now reply with "...oh, does the 'if' apply to you?"
I hope you know I am having a real good time screwing with you...
I'm sure you DO know a lot more about music than me.
The other day I was on the phone with a friend and I asked him what he was listening to because it had a "great beat".
... ... ... well his son was running the can crusher...
... ... ...
And what did we learn from this?
A freakin can crusher sounds better than the stupid Dixie Chicks. Thats what we learned!!!
