The Dixie Chicks' Oct. 7 concert at Sunrise's BankAtlantic Center has been canceled. No one wants to say precisely why or whether the show will be rescheduled -- at press time a venue official said confirmation is forthcoming, and the Chicks camp in Nashville did not return phone calls or e-mails.
But according to Pollstar, the concert industry's trade organization, the Oct. 7 date is now reserved for a concert in Australia.
The conservative country music community has had a beef with the Chicks ever since lead singer Natalie Maines spoke out against President Bush and later criticized country fans for their reactions. Ticket sales in Red States have been sluggish throughout the tour.
No! You may not < /sarcasm off>
I thought that was Bob Segar!
wardaddy, I just call it the Nashville Scene part of town, as a sort of shorthand. And everyone KNOWS what I'm talking about when I say it!
(At one time, I called it the "War Is Not The Answer" part of town, but they've taken down those signs and put up Ford signs)
You know, the Dixie Chicks should be going on tour about the same time as Weird Al Yankovic, if my calculations are correct.
I would love to compare audience figures.
what i love about the libs is that they say even stupider things when they are overseas thinking the internet can't reach those places... dxchks are going to goober it up again
Compare them to Sam Bush, Mark O'Conner, Bela Fleck, Alison Kraus, New Grass Revival, The Nashville Cats, Edgar Meyer, Ricky Skaggs or any of a host of real bluegrass tallent and you'll see what I mean.....
Best reply ever.....
I myself prefer to date other people. And always female.
But if you prefer to date yourself, who am I to opine in this age of tolerance.
Actually, Thermal left out Rhonda Vincent, which means I'm going to have to challenge him to a duel...
I Didn't SAY you had to like their music.
Just don't call them "bad musicians". They are very talented and very stupid.
Natalie screwed up a great band. Not just with her ass hat comments but when she first joined up. The other two are sell outs. Not because they stuck with her over her commie crap but because they dumped a better singer to get a fat chick who likes to show cleaveage and try to invent Country Goth.
(although I LIKED A FEW OF THEIR songs ALOT.)

To everyone else,
The point is music is about more than the notes played or the melodies or the accuracy of pitch. Machines can do that stuff. It's about the heart and soul that goes into it. So that is why they SUCK now. That is why they are a SUCK band and SUCK musicians and Willie Nelson is awesome straight from the nose!!! (Though having some pretty liberal pinko tendancies in his own right).
So, in the absence of group think. Let me just say, "The DC's SUCK. Their MUSIC SUCKS. And if you like it... well YOU SUCK!"
If they'd get the fat one to shut her mouth, they wouldn't be in this situation.
That said, I don't think this is the biggest tour debacle ever. I'm certain it's the most recent blow up, but I kinda doubt that it's the biggest ever.
BUDDY HOLLY RULES !
Funny thing is, they're very good singers (Assuming they aren't using pitch shifters/hormonizers in the studio (cough...Faith Hill...cough)
that's a good way to put
or the Village Realty area..lol...
have you ever looked at their greenies meet homo realty website?
yuck
they give money to that Peace and Justice crap
And, as for Bulldog. that "Dixie Chicks Suck Bigtime" is VERY eloquently stated. And, now that you have pointed out this very knowledgeable subtle nuance about their music, I might have to delete all of their files off my hard drive.....
ie. your post, pretty much, is a microcosm of my point.
And your point is???
The cancellation of 25 venues for $20 million dollars in lost ticket sales (not including t-shirts and cokes) is the biggest tour debacle ever. That is money that was in their pockets last tour and they will never see again.
I doubt it...
there have been entire tour cancellations before.
They've at least gotten to tour.
I don't buy that it's the biggest ever. Not at all.
