Not a critical fix, but I thought I'd share. Most folks probably have FF set to auto-upgrade and should get notice of this new update soon. This is a new patch in addition to the July 27th release.

As much as I like Firefox, I am unhappy lately with the inconsistencies with some extensions. Flash occasionally locks up, etc.

I am sorry that I ever installed FF. I thought that it would solve some problems, but caused more.

Ditto. But with 15% market share and growing such issues will hopefully become a thing of the past when more websites start encoding specifically for Firefox.

Go to yahoo and try to run the video of Danica Patrick on this page. If your system runs it okay, I will apologize to Firefox fans.

My FF has lately had trouble loading images, but I won't go back to IE. That is a nightmare.

Oh, I agree. Those who post images or other files that are incompatible with Firefox just won't get my eye. There is absolutely no way I will use IE except for updating Microsoft products, because it is required.

The one where Bob and Jerry sound off on Danica? Works fine for me (but you have to listen to the short Yahoo commercial first)

Right you are: it didn't run on my FF either. Interestingly enough, though, the next video in the series ran fine.

For me, it's not images that are incompateable. Say on a page of indexed thumbnails, only about half of them will display. If I hit "reload" the rest would come in, but lately even that isn't working. I don't know, maybe I will "uninstall/reinstall FF.

Which problems would that be? Perhaps someone here might be able to assist tou in fixing them.

Is it more virus/popup/worm/trojan/spyware prone than the alternatives?

From the release notes:

Poorly designed or incompatible Extensions can cause problems with your browser, including make it crash, slow down page display, etc. If you encounter strange problems relating to parts of the browser no longer working, the browser not starting, windows with strange or distorted appearance, degraded performance, etc, you may be suffering from Extension or Theme trouble. Restart the browser in Safe Mode. On Windows, start using the "Safe Mode" shortcut created in your Start menu or by running firefox.exe -safe-mode. On Linux, start with ./firefox -safe-mode and on Mac OS X, run:

cd /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/ ./firefox-bin -safe-mode

When Firefox is started in Safe Mode, all extensions are disabled and the Default theme is used. Disable the Extension or Theme that is causing trouble and then start normally.

If you uninstall an extension that is installed with your user profile (i.e. you installed it from a web page) and then wish to install it for all user profiles using the -install-global-extension command line flag, you must restart the browser once to cleanse the profile extensions datasource of traces of that extension before installing with the switch. If you do not do this you may end up with a jammed entry in the Extensions list and will be unable to install the extension globally.

If you encounter strange problems relating to bookmarks, downloads, window placement, toolbars, history, or other settings, use the Firefox Safe Mode to disable all extensions, themes, and optionally attempt to clean up any corrupted data.

Worked for me.

I run 5.05, but I do have to admit I have to right click and 'open in new window'.

Could be my firewall preventing me from directly clicking on it.
