And now the Dinklemeyer:
Tonights strip continues the story of the horrible class field trip.
This is heavily based on a real field trip I went on shortly before drawing this. The field trip was in fact to a landfill, which was probably the lamest place we could have possibly gone. We were learning about waste management or something. This is a caricature of our tour guide, who did in fact have horrible breath. He also did a strange demonstration just like this one that involved a paint can. I still havent figured it out.
The other students who went on the field trip found this particular cartoon to be absolutely hilarious.
The one glimmer of hope I have is that according to what I've heard, he was in an extremely bad mood that evening. So there's a chance he was overreacting and by tomorrow he will have calmed down a lot.
Maybe he'll just talk to you a little and not do anything else if he knows you're a good employee. If you get written up, then you may want to make absolutely sure that you don't leave the buggy like that again. (You may just want to do that anyway.)
You'll have to train yourself to double-check things before you leave work. Maybe you can leave yourself a reminder note somewhere.
There are already a lot of things I double-check. I'm overall a good employee (they remember the bad things over the good, though), but this guy is an organization TYRANT, and one slip-up gets us in trouble. I try and try and try, but sometimes, there's that tiiiiny little thing you overlook. I'll do what I can.
So I was in a mood all day that was a mixture of horror, depression, and suspense. I feel like a condemned man on death row!
But the funny part today was when I tried to talk about this with the head store manager, who's over everything.
Wait. What happened with the store manager? Was he "over" the incident? That last sentence didn't quite make sense.
We just had a small earthquake. My heart just jumped out of my chest. Be back in a few minutes...
By "over everything," I meant he has authority over everyone and everything in the store, because he's the head sore manager.
The manager who I'm in trouble with is just an assistant manager. He's the A.M. who's over my department.
So I went to the store manager (Deon) and told him the whole thing. I mean about how I'm in trouble.
It was funny, because no matter how hard I tried, I sounded like a little kid whining to his Mommy. "Deon, I'm in trouble! Darrin's gonna' yell at me! He's gonna be mean to me, Deon!"
Deon kept saying, "Oh, it's no big deal. You're not in any trouble. You're not going to get written up. Just make sure you clean up your trash next time...it's no big deal."
It was like in "A Christmas Story," when the little brother says "Daddy's gonna' kill Ralphie!"
OMG!!!
Are you okay? Is it all good?
All is good. Just gave me a real start. The glass full of soda on my desk was swirling a bit. Weird. Earthquakes are weird.
I was here for the 89 quake. THAT was something else. You may have read about it or saw some things on the TV. Now sure if you were old enough to remember or know anything.
Back to your saga...if the store manager is telling you you're not in trouble and you won't get written up, then, considering he's the mangager, he's probably right and probably has some real say in the matter (the buck stops with him). He may have already talked to the assistant manager about it. Sound like the assistant manager gets wrapped around the axel too easily.
Yeah, that's the thing about the A.M. He is known for his temper (I think he drinks too much caffeine, but that's another story). In fact, I'm one of the only ones there who really gets along with him. He and I are on good terms...with exceptions...LIKE THIS, FOR EXAMPLE!!
Glad to hear you're okay. I know nothing about earthquakes. I've never been through one, except for the ride at Universal Studios.
Yeah, the 89 one was pretty big. Our house just shook and shook. My sister had a panic attack. My dad was driving in his car and mistook the shaking for a flat tire.
I think I've heard about it but I don't know all the details.
Barb? You okay over there?
Yeah, I'm good. I'm distracted with a couple things. One is I have this really bad crick in my neck and have had it for a few days. Hubby was rubbing some bengay on it just now so I stopped what I was doing. In fact, I going to take a very hot shower in about 10 minutes to help loosen the muscles in that area. My doc gave me flexeril (sp?) which is a potent muscle relaxant. I've been taking it for a few days now and it is helping, but also making me kinda doped up.
That's hilarious! I love it. Jib Jab is great. I've never seen that one before.
They need to do a new one. There hasn't been one since January.
