Authorities were searching Monday for a man who witnesses said shot and killed an Illinois tourist who was asking for directions.
After dropping his son off at a shopping mall, Ronald Gentile, 54, pulled over in the Coconut Grove area Saturday afternoon, police said. Witnesses reported seeing Gentile roll down the window on his rented white Chevrolet Cobalt. A man dressed in black then apparently approached the vehicle, robbed and shot Gentile.

"Honey, we can't close our eyes to the plight of the cities. Kids, are you noticing all this plight? Yeah, this'll just make us appreciate what we have." *gunshot*
"Roll em up....."
Honky Lips... ;-)
I'll keep that in mind the next time I visit Ford World HQ.
A friend of mine just got back from a couple of days at Greenfield Village/Ford Museum last week. She said at one point they were out driving and ended up in Detroit. She said, "My God, it's like a different country!"
It's time to stop killing our people. We must set a timetable
for unilateral withdrawl.
I'd like to see a survey of the most unliveable
cities in the United states because of crime.
Those crime ridden areas continue to flourish
because we treat them as victims just as the U.N.
perpetuates terrorism.
When I have rented from Avis, I got a great little GPS unit that you can push a button, and talk to an actual human being who will help you. Fabulous investment for the extra 9 bucks a day, IMHO.
Recently in Phoenix I rented from Alamo which had the most useless POS GPS system..You had to key everything in-not easy when you are going high speed on a crowded freeway, and for addresses in Gilbert, it basically couldn't find them.
The POS GPS from Alamo was definitely not user friendly.
Boy, if I didn't live in Florida, I wouldn't go there on vacation. I don't think they like tourists there.
Reminds me of when I went to Philadelphia, on the way to the airport, I went down a major street to get some azo standard for my daughter from drug store. We went in the drug store and there was a plaque for a police officer killed there. The streets were littered with papers and plastic bags. We went in McDonalds across from Walgreen's and one of the customers told us to get out of there pretty fast. We left post haste.
LOL. Best one all day. Bad boy, bad boy.
"We should pull out of Miami"
Now THAT's a darned funny post FRiend.
A friend of mine who is a truck driver said there are parts of Michigan that are like a whole other country.
He said that he saw signs on the drinking fountains in restaurants that said "This water is for drinking only" so that people wouldn't do their ablutions (ritual washing of various body parts that precedes prayer times) in them.
Im from Chicago. IF you're white and get off one of the expressways, eg The Dan Ryan and wander off, then stop and ask for directions you're dead...I mean dead.
Who do I look like? Christopher Columbo?
My brother lives in Coconut Grove, so I have been there to visit several times and I can tell you from personal experiance that the mall is in a very upscale part of the neighborhood.
Talk about Little Tehran
I know exactly where you were. 20 years ago that was a nice middle-class neighborhood. Now all the filthy babies/victims of the Great Society have driven out the good people and turned that part of Philly into Detroit. If you happen to be melanin-challenged, you are subject to robbery and/or summary execution for your crime.
"... I wonder if these guys know The Commodores."
Seems reasonable. The media does not always hide the people group status of suspected criminals.
