Hey Folks,
I know on the other thread Zidane is getting chopped for being a Muslim - (a little unfair on its own - in the context of the World Cup playing) but - I followed the blog someone posted from for the Zidane head butt - and then I started reading the blog of watchers below and they pointed out the scum materazzi pinched so hard Zidane's nipple - Zidane had it and headbutt him. Watch the first video carefully.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBV52GPhNjw
Now watch this video - turn down the volume because the song is not nice but Materazzi purposefully kicks guys in the face, testicles, on their backs, on their legs.
Materazzi is a scum. Zidane didn't take it - Zidane should have ignored it but he let Materazzi ruin his final game and the French's chances. Materazzi got what he wanted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpG4AHlZrL4&search=Materazzi

I respected Zidane's playing throughout the World Cup. I'm sure he had some tough play too but he lost his cool at the last moment by a guy who's modis operandi is to do just that - take out the guy or solicit a reaction for a foul.

Why couldn't he just wait until the game is finished, and then punch him in the face.
Side note, I remember watching Captain Tsubasa(Soccer Cartoon) when I was young. They always portrayed the Italians as cheaters.

It's just sad that Z will be remembered for this behavior in his last game.

Sorry man...I watched several times and while Materazzi's arms go around Zidane you can't see anything else since a player walks in front of the camera right when the "nipple pinch" you are claiming happened happened.
Regardless Zidane should have known his teams situation and picked his fight AFTER the game. Zidane has nobody to blame but himself.

OMG he pinched his nipple!!! String him up!!!

Nah - the hand is on the breast (like copping a feel) - makes perfect sense - and Zidane's look at Materazzi - like (What are you a queer or something?) - but having horsed around with friends I remember it smarts for a little after... but not enought to throw a game
I totally agree that Zidane should have popped him AFTER THE GAME but it's a shame he let it get to hime where we didn't see a fight to the finish.

I can't stay on this thread. I'm gettin' too excited!

I'm not trying to make it a wussy-boy thing - I was just trying to figure out - like a billion other people - what a stupid thing to do - why would he do that.
Until I caught another side of it. After watching the other video I still am glad Zidane head butted Materazzi - but disappointed a good player got stupid and didn't suck it up when needed most.

"scum materazzi pinched so hard Zidane's nipple - Zidane had it and headbutt him. Watch the first video carefully."
Rubbish.
Won't wash
Zidane was walking AWAY from Materazzi with his back to Materazzi, before he turned round and head butted Materazzi.
Even if Materazzi did "pinch Zidane's nipple" earlier on, why on earth react to it a full like 30 seconds later when he was already jogging away from Materazzi?
Its like someone going to shoot some guy that insulted him 5 years ago, claiming it was done in the heat of the moment, and claiming manslaughter.
You either react to an assault at the time, or you don't.

Watched it in slow mo on a very large screen. There was no titty twister. The ball goes by them to another player and then right out and there was a slight hold on the jersey and then nothing.
Zidane was laughing and then they were moving away until some words were said and then the flameout and Frenchie goes mental.

Ok - a little extreme comeback you gave - so staying on point - think about it - guys playing hard - rough sport, other guy hard-tweaks your nip. It smarts (nature of it, no matter how big you are). You think - "ouch - jerk, " and then a few seconds later the macho factor of another guy tweaking your nip (which normal guys don't do) and it tweaks your head - only a few seconds later. Materazzi might have even busted him with words regarding it and, culmination of the moment, tournament and Materazzi's reputation that Zidane and others well know, and Zidane doesn't let it stand.
Stupid - YES, only explanation that makes sense. Unless Materazzi knew Zidane's mother or sister in some illicit relations.
To: time4good
That's funny 'cause everyone else is of the mindset that this incident was caused by words and not a "titty twister"....
The parting image for the France captain will forever be him rearing back in anger, lowering his bald head and launching his bald crown into the chest of Italy defender Marco Materazzi's chest after the two exchanged words while walking down the field in extra time Sunday.
"Zidane being sent off changed everything," France coach Raymond Domenech said. "Even in extra time the Italian team was waiting for only one thing, and that was penalties."
Domenech said he did not know what Materazzi said to Zidane.

"- rough sport, other guy hard-tweaks your nip."
The point is, Materazzi's alleged "nipple pinching'" was done in the heat of battle, with both of them struggling for the ball.
That was with the ball in play.
There's plenty of shirt pulling, hand pulling, etc in soccer, and some of that shirt pulling can result in a nipple being pulled too, all that with the ball in play.
What Zidane did however is completely different.
He head butted Materazzi with no ball in play between them at all, and with he Zidane already jugging away from Materazzi.
It just doesn't make sense.
Only thing I can think of is Materazzi said something bad to Zidane.
But hey, in the NBA, players have been trash talking each other for as long as I can remember.
If people kept head butting each other for trash talking, we wouldn't have any games played at all.

Sorry, pal they chatted nicely for several seconds between the nipple tweak and the head-butt.
Something else happened in there, Materazzi said something and Zidane turned around, came back, and head-butted him.
Zidane disgraced himself and France -- as if France needed any help.
