Can anyone help me out with a folding issue?

My kids have a problem with running games on the computer while the folding client is running. Consequently they shut off the folding client and NEVER remember to turn it back on.

Other than selling my kids to the highest biddder, is there a way I can stop the conflict between folding and games so they will not have to stop folding?

Thanks in advance.

There are some games that just will not run well while folding. In fact, I have to shut folding off completely when I'm playing SecondLife. Just having it pause isn't sufficient.

I have to check my kids computers to make sure they turned F@H back on. The client must be shut down to run some high end games and manually turned back on. After a couple of months of me "intruding" into their space... they start remembering to re-start F@H. In other words...

If you are a gamer, you have to remember to re-start the client. (From my experience)

You can install it without the graphic interface and it will not interfere with games, but if you do that it's harder to keep track of how your jobs are doing.

The day I started folding I had the same trouble. I had installed the gee-whiz graphical client and it monopolized my OpenGL so I would have to stop folding in order to run any other application that needed OpenGL; mostly games.

Although I REALLY hated to lose the cool graphics, I bit the bullet and switched over to teh console client; chosing to run it as a service so it keeps going even when I'm logged off.

Here's my post explaining how to do that relatively painlessly. NOTE: I'm running under XP Pro, so modify your approach as necessary for your operating system.

When I downloaded the console .EXE, I put it right in the same folder where the graphical client was installed so it could find all of the work files the graphical client had been using. This is key to getting it to pick up where the graphical client left off.

Good luck!
