What is typical for an America food to put in the cool box? I listed earlier on thread what us Brtis put in is it similar? Of course I missed one vital thing for an airshow most people would take some beer:0) Usually, sandwiches or fried chicken will be a favorite, along with "crisps", pickles, cole slaw (shredded cabbage salad mixed in a mayo based dressing). As for beer, since you typically walk miles in the heat at the Florida airshows, beer is best reserved for the end of the day!

LOL I remember that.
That old Dawg Pound was something else. The new Pound they have now is nothing, half the people there aren't even fans
but I'll leave that for the NFL threads.

Here's our ride, a C-130J, basically a flying mobile AM/FM/Shortwave/TV station. As an amateur radio operator, I'm in "hog heaven." B-) |
As we start our tour, we will be taking the C-130J which is basically a flying AM/FM/Shortwave/TV station. As we fly, we will be bringing to the oppressed peoples of the world good things like disco music, soul music, bubblegum music, KISS, Art Bell, George Noory, and of course Michael Savage. On the TV side, we will broadcast "Stargate SG-1," "H.R. Pufenstuf," "Sanford & Son" and "Green Acres." As the sign on the plane says, "Let's Roll." |
As you can see here, the cockpit is state of the art. I can even call up maps as we are flying, navigating with GPS precision. Maybe I can tune in "Tom Goes to the Mayor" or "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" as well, I'm not sure, I'll have to try. B-) |
Oh yes, a word about your pilot, here I am, "pilot of the airwaves" as well as this plane, I'm Captain John Belushi, err, well, I do get comments that I look like him. B-) Going back, I'm Captain Nowhere Man, your pilot and guide at the controls, I will take you easily on this tour and show you some sights. |
One last look at the HUD to make sure everything is OK and off we go!!! One last word, make sure all trays and stewardesses are in the upright position and extinguish all cigarettes. B-D |
First off, a stop at these guys, Fed Ex Express. I work for the ground division of the company, a different part but still being the main breadwinner, I have to pay homage to who puts food on the table as well as a roof over my head as well as keep my cats from starving. |
A group of T-6 Texans perfoming acrobatics. Really cool to watch |

A quick story, during the 2000 airshow, I did get a chance to sit in the pilot's seat of this magnificent plane. I played with the plane's radio, I tuned in fellow amateur radio operators as well as KDKA-AM and listened to the Pirate game. I have 10 meter voice capability on my license, would have loved to fire up 10 meters on that rig. I knew the pilot too, he's 10 years younger than me.
When I was 18 and he was a little kid, I gave him "F-15 Strike Eagle" for the Apple computer, I like to think that maybe that was a part of his career decision to fly for the airforce. Being terminally nearsighted, if I couldn't fly for them, at least I might have nudged someone else in that direction. |
I'll have more later.

Are I see one major difference to our air show then. It is normal at our shows to stake your pitch out at the start of the day and remain there. Usually if you want to look at the stalls or visit the funfair you would do this either before or after the flying has finished, or if you are in a group do it in relays.
Here was our "pitch" at the 2000 show

Hey NWman! Happy 40th birthday!!! I just celebrated my 38th on Saturday. Really excellent photos, btw.

Just got in from a too-busy weekend and re-read the posts. You did an excellent job with the thread, as usual. Nice photos, Nowhere Man (from Pgh, I presume?).

Hey Jon!
We just had some thunderstorms and lightning last night. I'm up near Carson City, NV (5000 ft. elevation). The lightning was like something you'd see in a postcard
Where are you located again?
