SUPERMAN RETURNS portrays the man of steel as every liberals dream of the anti-moral hero. Early in the movie his principles are referred to as truth and justice. Period. Leaving out the critical line and the American Way paints a broad picture of what is coming. I hollered, And the American Way for the benefit of my fellow movie patrons just so everyone would notice the omission.
After numerous teases we are finally brought up close and personal with the fact that Superman is a sexual predator, an absentee father, and an abuser of women, specifically of Lois Lane. He knocked up Lois and split to do his own thing for 5 years without so much as a thank you, mam.
Are we really expected to believe that the Savior of the World has a one night stand and did not know she was pregnant? He with the x-ray eyes who scans her body after she nearly drowns and diagnoses her fit as a fiddle?
In the final scene, sex machine Superman acknowledges the fruit of his loins and tells the little boy he is a chip off the old block.
I was nauseated and disgusted with this portrayal. It is a gross obscenity.
The power of the Superman icon is the representation of clear and strong morality. This movie makes Superman the moral equivalent of his archnemesis, Lex Luther. It is utterly vile.
I give it two thumbs down and a New York raspberry.
Just for the record, if your referring to any of the characters in the Superman comic books, Superman is published by DC comics.
I had somewhat the same setof thoughts. Imagine a Superman erection...
Now imagine superman impregnating 1000 virgins a night for 30 years. If he were truly interested in progeny that would start a new race of Supermen.
Hitler redux.
Bronx Raspberry.
Hmmm -- I don't plan on seeing this movie until I can get it on Netflix. I wonder if the writers thought about this when impregnating LL with Superman's genes.
A few more dalliances and the world could have a small group of super-elites that would be in a position to complete what Zod tried to start,
Superman is in the NBA?
Cannot remember which but some MSM reviewing the movie referred to Superman as from the Marvel stable. Foolish of me to trust a print source.
He could do that at superfast speed, talk about premature ejaculation!
BTW in the last Reeves Superman Supe and Lois get married, but it was so dangerous for Lois that he had to make her amd the world forget all about it.
Glad to know he didn't believe in abortion.
Lois decided to keep the baby. Supe was out of the galaxy. The stupidity of all of this is that Clark Kent is completely ignored as the only reasonable romance for Lois. If she truly loved Supe she would know he is Clark.
Mostly I am PO'ed because all of the hype for the movie directed by a queer made a big deal out of the premise that the movie would depict Supe as a real man. It depicted him as a typical faggot, promiscuous and irresponsible.
ONE MORE TIME.
Lois did marry Superman, and she knew he was Clark Kent. He made her forget about it. Apparently he did not have the baby aborted.
Marry!?
You mean fornicate. There was no marriage. So now, by your lights, Superman is a gigelo, a liar, a fraud, a rapist AND a deadbeat dad. What a hero!
No they actually got married, not fornicate. Wedding bells and everything. Superman made everybody forget about it. Maybe it was a TV movie or something but I do remember this.
The ultimate divorce
OK, apparently it was the Man of Steel miniseries.

Watching it on cable for the first time.
So superman is a homewrecker, who slept with Lois before he left and she knows the kid is his but is not so selfish to destroy her husband and marraige by saying so.
Meah while Lex Luther was casted all wrong.
Just a plain horrible re make.
Plain horrible.
Had to give my two cents.
Jimmy was the only good “kid” person charactor in the movie.
I will hang out until the end to see if Louis ruins her marraige.
Classy of you to dig this out of a list a year old. I remain incensed about the destruction of American heroes by the forces of evil among us.
I finally watched it on DVD - couldn’t agree more on your points. Plus, too long and unevenly paced. I did like the actor playing Jimmy Olsen. Best parts were the cameos by Noel Neill and Jack Larson.
It will probably make millions. The most popular drama on TV is about a drug-addicted physician with more psychological problems than you can count.
