Bush's fake gasoline shortage

Americans pay some of the highest wholesale gasoline prices in the world. Don't believe me, go here. http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_spt_s1_d.htm Look for prices in Rotterdam and Singapore, before taxes. The price being twenty or so cents higher in the US, as compared to Europe or Asia, is for a reason. US laws make the US formulations, unusual by world standards, less popular with non-US refineries. Refiners in the US face reduced overseas competition. Windfall, at your expence. It doesn't cost that much more to make, but they can charge more because of the artificial shortage. I'm getting tired of hearing about the refinery shortage, the problem is continual law changes.

didn't know that,ok, so it was 2001

you might find this map interesting,
warning, big .pdf file, just under 3 MB.
http://www.exxon.com/USA-English/Files/US%20Gasoline%20Map%20100102.pdf

14 different kinds,
changes seasonally, summer, spring/fall, winter
regular,mid,premium

I don't blame Bush for all or even most of this,
but he doesn't seem to be helping me much, either

I've referred to that map before. If you find the current one in jpg (same version as your pdf) I would appreciate a link.

I don't know of a online smaller file, sorry.
I would like that, also.

Keep in mind that county by county is not
always true, sometimes it is street by street,

Your chart shows that consumption has generally increased (with expected dips and spikes here and there). I do indeed limit my consumption but the vast majority of Americans don't. Furthermore, I don't bitch about gas prices. I would be willing to bet that the most vocal complainers are also the biggest consumers. Americans haven't understood market economics for years.

Because of my lacking abilities and major lack of patience to fix it, my chart lacks the dates. It is over eleven years, you can clearly see the repeating yearly cycles over the seasons. What it does show in the last two years in spite of a growing economy and population, a great slow down in gasoline consumption. People have made changes in how they consume gasoline and it shows.
