The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

How's the dog? Will spilled coffee beans become regular snackage?

Mornin'. Love those trail ride pics, chica.

No pics of our day, unfortunately. Only because I completely forgot to take any! Sheesh. :-/

We didn't do Snoqualmie yesterday. We decided to check out Kirkland instead and save the waterfall for another day.

And then we went over to Ramius' cousin's house and stayed until after 9pm. The kids had a blast, of course. And I just adore the cousin and his wife. Really fine people.

~sigh~

Sorry to hear about your SIL, Suzi. Prayers up for all of you.

And take comfort in the fact that there will be peace and reconciliation at last when they meet again. :-)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm gonna have my third cup of coffee and go tackle the dining room. It has become the spot where I've told folks to put everything they don't know what else to do with, so I can do triage to see if I want to take it or leave it. It's a S-L-O-W process!

But a couple of rooms are getting cleaned out, and Joseph is filling holes in the wall so we can do paint touch up, then clean the carpets! WooHoo progress!

I'm so glad I don't have much more to move out to Iowa when I go. Leaving all my stuff there over the summer was definitely the thing to do.

hehe.. hehehe. No one else is in the lab to hear be snickering to myself. That is a great shot. Mom has a baby picture of me at much less than a year and I have just about exactly that look. It is my all time favorite picture of me.

Plus that means you can't run off before the wedding. If you did all I would have to do is leave a trap by the book shelves and sooner or later I would have ya ;-D

What's in Kirkland?

Shame on you for not taking pictures! Haven't we trained you yet? ;-)

The trail ride was definitely fun, though it reminded me how out of practice I am on less-than-level-and-perfect trails. I was doing a lot of white-knuckling it. And I need to see if the bike shop can make the shocks on the front of the bike stiffer. As it was, the front end was bouncing all over, making me rather cranky.

It was awfully nice to come in with a dusty bike, though. It's been wayyyy too long. Heh...

Well, I'm back.

A good time was had by all. Although it was a small crowd, it was good to see folks. Spent some time on the way back griefing a classmate who passed since the last reunion. We were close all through school but drifted apart when he got into the heavy drug/alcohol use. From what I understand, he sort of self destructed...sigh.

Interesting side note, out of my class of about 150, there were 8 of us with my first name. Four are dead. I'm just sayin' is all.

Took a picture of the Mrs. dancing with Patrick Swayze. But it came out all blurry. Must. Buy. Camera.

The 20th Anniversary of "Dirty Dancing" is coming up in November. (It's a vey small county).

Suzi, so sorry to hear about your s-i-l. I know it's an awkward time, but if you ~are~ in Richmond, I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee (or something stronger).
