Employers should be allowed to choose to hire whomever the hell they feel is best suited for the job. I would not want to hire someone with neck/face tats. There is a potential loss to the employer if customers are driven away by the freaks they amy or may not hire.
I also would not hire someone who looks like they fell face-first into a tacklebox.

It's not criminal to wear shorts, either, but surely an employer is within its rights in banning shorts from the office. A long sleeve shirt will cover up the tats nicely, so what's the big deal? Is there no air conditioning?

She looks like the woman who used to do my hair (she was a law student working PT in a salon).
AND she looks like 90% of the SCAD students here in town, plus a lot of tribal chicks I've met.
I guess I just don't see it as odd anymore.

How hot can it be in England, that she couldn't wear a blouse? And a hijab, I guess, to cover that thing on her neck ... but it's not like Pakistanis are dropping over from the heat in Hertfordshire.

A cotten oxford shirt, buttoned up would be relatively cool....and the Pakistani dress is usually a tunic and trousers....

Which is quite comfortable.

"I like body art, it's a way of expressing. It's always been around." Art, shmart...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Tats to that extreme are ugly, IMO.

Comfortable and attractive. I have one ... bright purple, embroidered it myself in a fit of energy during my 6th pregnancy.
It seems like a long-sleeved blouse with a neck scarf would cover the young woman's body art, and she's not in Georgia or someplace really hot!

Agreed,
a shirt and scarf in light fabrics would be cool and keep her covered....
OR, she could just go interview at a boutique, art gallery, salon, night club, bistro etc. It isn't so much how she's tattooed but that she's trying to fit in a world that see's it as bad.
There are places were she would be just one of the gang.

"I want to feel I am not being judged on my appearance, but how well I am doing my job." Get a clue! People are judged on their appearance every second of every day. If you want to work as a long shoreman or some other "manly" job, then yes, your tattoos are lovely. < gag > But when you're working in a professional office you need to .... oh for crying out loud, what am I saying?!?!?!? You look stupid! Get away from me!

I suppose she thinks she looks unique, but she looks exactly like hundreds of girls I've seen hanging around Little Five Points in my city (Atlanta); that winged heart tat on the chest seems to be very popular right now, as is the dyed black hair and Cleopatra makeup.

Rebecca Holdcroft likes to "express" herself through body art. I once met a woman with considerable body art. She gave me the same reasoing - the art 'expresses' herself. I listned intently and then (innocently) asked what about her it expressed.
I got a blank stare. Serves me right - I learned a long time ago no good comes from asking real questions, or giving real answers to questions, for that matter. :-)
