AUSTIN, Texas -- A Texas high school teacher is fighting for her teaching license after her partner posted topless pictures of her on the Internet.
Before that, school officials in Austin thought Tamara Hoover was an excellent art teacher. However, after the photos surfaced on flickr.com, she was told she had become ineffective and was fired. http://www.local6.com/education/9386537/detail.html

Figurative painting is the thing ~ but sometimes you need some good reference photos. Still, you can do a better and more faithful job with a LIVE MODEL.

When he's about 2. Then he'll have no interest until he's about 14.

IMO, that one's intended to make her look ugly. She cleans up real nice, though.

I wonder what sex "her partner" is. She's female.

There will still be a tacit curiosity there between 2-14 years of age, it wouldn't be sexual though - he'll just wonder about them!

Well, even if the model is an attractive lady, drawing what is there, rather than what is in your brain can be tricky. My opinion is that you should generally use models that are closer to the ideal, not grossly overweight or unattractive ones. Getting a likeness isn't easier with the body than the face, I don't think.
Sometimes it can be easier to draw the heavy ones, since the actual structure is hidden. Plus, somehow there is more at stake in getting the attractive ones right, so one tends to be less relaxed, which is a hindrance.

What is truly odd is that even though the model is attractive, when you're trying to draw her (or in the case of female artists, draw him) your mind isn't focused on anything other than "I hope I get this right."

Good points. It seemed that it was not unusual for guys to sign up for introductory drawing classes thinking they could draw, because they sketched comic-book style nudes. However, when given the task of producting a realistic drawing of a specific human being standing in front of them, they were stumped!
