The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXVIII~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Wow, that is becoming quite a nice panoramic haiku-story. Dare we to continue? I believe it is John's turn.

Yupper, and it's fun. Johnn will not be around until late at night. We can continue if you wish.

On some older Lair threads there are been as many as three to four of us writing haiku! We did the copy paste thingy until we got tired of it. LOL

I was thinking have you considered writing a Sonnet. I tried once and failed miserably. Now that is really calculated work and I bet you would love it.
There are very strict rules regarding sonnet writing. Number of lines, themes, etc. Ugh, too much, for my free verse mind. ;)

I'll read up on sonnets, maybe I'll try one later. Let's have one more round on the haiku story. Maybe John will want to finish it up when he gets back. Give me a minute!

Sonnet XXXV

by William Shakespeare

No more be grieved at that which thou hast done:
Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud;
Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,
And loathsome canker lives in sweetest bud.
All men make faults, and even I in this,
Authorizing thy trespass with compare,
Myself corrupting, salving thy amiss,
Excusing thy sins more than thy sins are;
For to thy sensual fault I bring in sense--
Thy adverse party is thy advocate--
And 'gainst myself a lawful plea commence:
Such civil war is in my love and hate
That I an accessary needs must be
To that sweet thief which sourly robs from me.

A nice ending. And an impressive sonnet. I don't know if I can hang with old Shakespeare. I'll look over sonnets over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks so much for writing with us.

Yup, Shakespear is a daunting role model.

I have been keeping you busy with suggestions, ;) and you are such a good sport about it.

It must be very late for you. I bet sleep is calling, have a good rest.

Hi Kathy!

Thanks so much for the great pictures. Love the swallows and the lily pad.

Heavy lightning and thunder early this evening very little rain, guess that is coming later in the night. Temp is 66F right now. Unusual for this time of year.
