Heh. I'm not sure, but I think this Verizon ad en espanol is implying Anglos are too stupid to appreciate soccer.

Is there anyone who does not despise Maradona? That must be one of the most obnoxious guys out there.

Good point. I think on this board in particular we'd be pretty short of Maradona fans.

England might have to actually play in that game!

I have to admit I was kinda bored during their game today. Way too safe.

The officiating was horrible, but if England is going to win the World Cup...they need to KICK IT UP A NOTCH and then some!

Considering that politically Maradona is well to the left of even Noam Chomsky and he hates US liberals just as much as he hates US conservatives just because they are Americans with an A. He makes Michael Moore sound like a conservative.

OMG - you can't drive legally past 100 kph here in NZ. Unless you are a driver in the motorcade for the Prime Minister. ;-)

Soccer was originally a quistententially very English sport. It is co-incodence that Europeans have picked this up. Most other ball games were invented by British or their offshoots as well - including Aussie Rules.

That's why TV is a necessity... even with Germany's advanced transportation network, no one can see all the games in one day. No one really expects to though. The fans just plan to go when their team plays and have a good time. As it is the best seats where sold out long ago.

I thought most of the second half was somewhat slow. Argentina did well but nowhere near what it could have been. It is the weather in Hamburg? The German port city is way to the north of the other Cup cities that saw action today.

I ain't a soccer fan. But anyway why is there no "United Kingdom" soccer team? Why is it only "England" instead?

I think the deal is that the Scots and Welsh simply hate the English team, so they don't want a unified team.
