WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.

Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Hi 'Face. I'm not going to be online too long, myself. I have to get a little more work done before I go to bed. I had planned on getting something done tonight, but I ended up watching the NASCAR race.

Don't be too harsh. Considering he bought his brain for under $2.00, the troll did a decent job of posting.

"petronski will take it!"

You had better be there to keep an eye on him ...

The Executive Quarters

B offered to show A where his quarters were.

“Lead on, then, sir. I am sure that I am ready to fall down. And I am sure that the seductive vampires of the night will be ready and waiting for me.” A had been enjoying the wine.

He was not so inebriated, however, that he did not recognize the splendor of his assigned lodgings. A grand bed on a raised platform greeted him just beyond a splashing fountain.

In alcoves around the room were additional beds for his many attendants. A buffet area was kept stocked with fresh drinks and snacks, and led to a separate dining area beyond.

There was an entrance in the corner of the room to an opulent bathing area, and large closets. Not noticed, but available were several communication stations and other amenities.

After he finished staring, A turned to B and said, “I think I can be comfortable here.”

“Good Night, A.” B said, as two young ladies came to help A to bed.

I do find NASCAR and Indy racing to be pretty interesting. But, like all sports, I don't have a desire to watch it on a regular basis, and I don't really follow the drivers and teams and points and stuff like that.

Have a good night, 'Face! *hug*

"as a landfill" =====> seems appropriate to this "good 'ole rebel".

LOL! There's an older fellow down the road from me who has this array of old vehicle spread about in a field, and my father has always referred to that field, "The monument to mankind", because it has just about anything you can find, including a kitchen sink. :)

Anybody tell you about the tax cam in your bedroom?

People watch and attempt through osmosis to gain helpful tax advise from you while you sleep.

welcome one and all to this fine "I'm gonna eventually shoot my neighbor's bawling dog" Sunday morning.

the damnedest thing, last night...

fellow I know, runs a club (no, this is not a joke)
appreciates handcraft and workmanship, and has interest in obsolete weaponry.

he's been following the progress of the bokken project.

outta the blue, he asks what I'd charge to make him one.

"a bokken like this one? lead-cored and with a steel guard and all the trimmings? way more than it is worth, just to cover working hours" sez I.

"more than it is worth, TO YOU" sez he.

"No, seriously," sez I, "I'd hafta charge a thousand bucks for one of these, just to cover the hours invested"

"Yeah, and?" sez he

"..." sez I "Dude, I wouldn't feel right charging that kind of money for a [beep!]ing bokken - they're supposed to be cheap and disposable, compared to a real katana... but I couldn't charge less for something that takes 100 hours to make."

"mm-hmm," sez he "Like I said, more than it is worth to YOU. If I can swing it, and I think I can, I'll want you to make me a set (long and short)."

Now, I dunno if he is serious, or will remain so, or -even if serious- whether he can in fact cough up Two Large...

but...

...damn!

it just feels totally creepy-wierd to have someone even talk about spending that kind of cash over some hand-crafted thing I make in my spare time.
