Prayer Vigil For the Immigration Crisis
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2, RSV
Dear FRiends, I invite you to join us in a 24 hour a day prayer vigil to ask God's help and protection and guidance on the immigration issue before Congress.
Let us place our country's needs before our Father's throne of grace that the right actions will be taken to protect our country and keep it safe.
We are asking for people to be willing to pray for at least 1/2 hours blocks. I will organize this on a 7 day schedule, to continue to rotate until the crisis is resolved. If you can, please consider pledging at the same time each day, but if you can't let me know your schedule. It will go on until this issue is settled.
If you want to pledge, let me know your time choices, and let me know your time zone!
Not sure what you posted, but I couldn't see anything...;0(
Evening prayer ping
Once again, O Lord,
We come to you on bended knee
and ask your mercy upon this land.
Help those who guide her
with the wisdom that can come only from you,
help our nation to heal from the terrible infighting
that causes our enemies glee.
Help those who work to keep our borders safe,
our courts just,
our leaders informed and honest.
You are our Lord and our life. Have mercy on us.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Amen!
and Amen.
Morning prayer ping!
Pegita, your prayer made me think of this:
For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:12-18
Our Father in Heaven, hear our voice, and let our cry come unto thee. Look not upon the sins of our nation, but on the faith of those in this land who call you Lord and Master.
Lord, as we pray for our nation, our leaders, our country's safety, bless our endeavor, and bless our country, and help us as we stand up for your light. May we, by our prayers and example, inspire others to also come to your light.
Guard our nation with your ourstretched hand, and lead our lawmakers in the paths of justice and those actions which will allow our land to prosper. Help them to protect our borders, insure fair law, and just courts.
In the name of Jesus, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, with the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever! Amen.
Thanks for doing this, Knitting....
Amen.
I pray for our leaders to do what is right for our Country and its citizens!
A Prayer for Our NationGod, grant me Your eyesso I will see All the earth's beauty surrounding me. God, give me Your lips And I'll express Your love for all people with gentleness. And Lord, let my hands be tender, like Yours, So I will be one who renews and restores. God, grant me these things and then I'll share Compassion and mercy, praise and prayer! "All these," the Lord said "I already impart: They're found when You're living from the heart." Deus Vobiscum

Evening prayer ping!
As everybody who's seen me post on FR knows, I use Micah 6:8 as my permanent tagline.
I found this story about Theodore Roosevelt (who I admit is one of my heros) talking about just that Bible verse:
In 1917, when American troops were preparing to sail across the seas in order to take to the battlefields of France and Belgium in the first World War, the New York Bible Society asked Theodore Roosevelt to inscribe a message in the pocket New Testament that each of the soldiers would be given. The great man happily complied. And he began by giving a striking Biblical call for a life of balance, what he called Micah mandate."He has shown you, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you, but to do justice and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God Micah 6:8
Saying that the whole teaching of the New Testament is actually foreshadowed in Micahs verse, he exhorted the men to "lead the world in both word and deed through unimpeachable moral uprightness.
In his brief message to the soldiers he explained, Do justice, and therefore fight valiantly against those that stand for the reign of Moloch and Beelzebub on this Earth. Love mercy, treat your enemies well, succor the afflicted, treat every women as if she were your sister, care for the little children, and be tender with the old and helpless. Walk humbly, you will do so if you study the life and teachings of the Saviour, walking in His steps."

O Father God,
In the past you have raised up many men of great courage and integrity for this nation.
We ask you now to be with those who know you and lead us, persons of integrity, courage and who understand their duty to guard and guide and protect our nation.
Fill them with a special anointing, O Lord, and be the light guiding their every steps as we are reaching such an important crisis point for our country. Let your will be done, in righteousness and truth, and may you use these people as examples and heralds of how our leaders should act.
Lord, the darkness seems strong, but we know your light is brighter than any dark. Help our country in its time of need, in your way and according to your plan.
O Lord, forgive us of where we fail you, and open our eyes so we too will learn to walk acting with justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with you all the days of our lives.
In the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
and Amen.
Thank you for you diligent prayers. I just knew there were some more reasons to honor the "Rough Rider". Thanks for sharing that tidbit.
Sorry to join you late. Thank you for this thread. Please put me down for 7-8pm EDT.
