The woman who has accused three Duke University men's lacrosse players of raping her failed to identify at least one of them in a photo array eight days after the reported attack, according to a motion filed Friday by defense attorneys. The motion also says that she then selected him as an attacker more than two weeks later.

You just said it in your post - the defendant sued the attorney under a separate cause of action, which is exactly what I said to begin with.
You also state Willie would be acting as a plaintiff's attorney, not for defense (omitting the possibility of him taking the case in Mangum's defense so he could counter-sue). First, I was speaking of the defendants filing suit against Mangum first. My point to your response was that no judgment against Mangum would be collectible from her attorney. I stated Willie would have to be successfully sued under a separate cause in order for his property to become vulnerable to a judgment.
Now you present a scenario in which a plaintiff's attorney was sued for malicious process which, as I said, IS a separate cause of action.
I agree. But tell Hogeye, not me. He's the one who thinks Willie could lose his jets. :>
Ha! I just read that!
I still can't imagine what they were going to do for 2 hours in that house, though.
Seems odd.
I'd get bored of the same girls after about 20 minutes. I'd be looking at my watch, or the TV, or leaving.
Friend Brian wasn't too concerned about Crystal, was he? He didn't check on her when she never called him to be picked up that night. He said he would check on her kids & tell her parents, but he didn't. What a nice "driver".....
If one wished to really hogtie Crystal and her gang of low-rolling legal talent, he'd see to it that one or more of the players started a state court action in their home state and county, for slander, against Crystal and anyone else who has slandered them, or allegedly slandered them.
In the cause of action slander, the injury to the victim/plaintiff in his home area is an important factor. Of course, a national figure would have the whole nation as his home area, but in the case of these players, most will return to their homes to make a life.
By initiating state court actions, and by initiating several in several states, by different players, you could force Crystal and her team to either fold or respond. They don't have the resources to respond in several jurisdictions, and if they seek to move it into federal courts, all the better.
I would guess her team would either fold on civil issues early, or they'd put her in a bankruptcy, in hopes of trying the issues one time in bankruptcy court.
Any way you slice it, the best defense is a good offense, and if you make them commit their resources to responding to your demands, you keep them busy from causing you other trouble.
I'd be making all these losers backing her pony up serious litigation costs and time.
The only one who has said she called her dad for directions is her dad himself, and this was said in response to reports that Mangum was drunk when she arrived. He said she sounded fine on the phone just before she arrived. Her father is a chronic liar and makes up stories constantly to try to buttress or refute whatever the latest information coming out about her is, depending on whether it hurts or helps her case.
So, we don't know that there was any call to her dad at all, as far as I know.
I posted their stories here:

What a shocker ... the driver's and father's stories don't jive.
Question: Who are they protecting by claiming they both don't know how the AV got to the driver's house?

Brian Taylor, who met the accuser at a Super Bowl party two years ago, said he spent an hour and a half with her before driving her to the party where she was hired to dance.
"She had called me a few hours earlier, asking me if she could use my place to get ready," Taylor said Friday.
Taylor said he did not know how the woman, a 27-year-old N.C. Central University student with two children, got to his home March 13. But he said that when she arrived about 9 p.m., he noticed nothing unusual about her demeanor. He did not say whether they consumed any alcohol.
Taylor had known for a while that his guest was a dancer. He and a male friend had watched her perform at clubs in Smithfield and Hillsborough.
As he sat in front of his PlayStation console March 13, the accuser showered behind a closed door and modeled at least two negligees for her host, he said.
"She asked my opinion," he said. "The first one was this black outfit, and I said, 'No.' When she came out in the red one I said, 'That's better.' "
It was 10:45 p.m., Taylor estimated, when they left for 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.

Where accuser went
On March 24, in her only interview with a reporter, the accuser said she was notified about 8:30 p.m. the night of the party that she was supposed to appear at the Buchanan Boulevard house about 11 p.m.
In an interview earlier this week, her father said he saw his daughter a few times March 13. That afternoon, he said, she picked up her two children from elementary school. About 9:30 p.m., he said, she brought the children to their grandparents' house for the evening.
"She was fine," he said.
After their arrival, he and his daughter took a short car ride about 10 p.m. to a neighborhood convenience store at Cornwallis Road and South Roxboro Street. He bought a pack of cigarettes but said he did not recall what his daughter purchased.
When the two returned to his house, the woman said she had to go out and wouldn't return until 1:30 a.m. He said he does not know whether she left in her own car or someone picked her up. He said she did call him to say she safely reached her destination -- about 11:30 p.m., about the start of a late-night talk show he was watching.
"About 9:30 p.m., he said, she brought the children to their grandparents' house for the evening."
So why did the police need to check on the children?
Why did Taylor need to pick the children up for CGM?
They should have been safe at grandma's house, shouldn't they?
Sure. That would be effective. I think at least Finnerty's attorney wants to keep things as quiet as possible but civil suits in different forums would be a great strategy.
Wouldn't you like to have some Duke alum hand you 500 grand and tell you to you get started?!
I do not believe attacking her would be wise in most such cases, but in this case, it's essential.
You can't get her for slander for telling police. There's an exception for that. But she's talked to an Essence journalist, her family, and others, and in doing so she published falsehoods, maliciously intended to do harm, and having that result.
I would also do it because it's the only real vindication and trial these guys are likely to have.
sure, send me 500,000 although for these guys i would do it for free (but i don't think their lawyers need help or want to share the career making glory)
So, we don't know that there was any call to her dad at all, as far as I know.
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
That's the way I took it, her Father has always appeared and made statements that for 5 minutes closed a hole or supported her story.
I don't believe one word coming from that father. Maybe the first interview when the AP said he had no idea what they were talking about and they stayed and spoke with him. I think that was the last sincere info we'll ever get out of him.
That never did make sense. These people (AV and her conspiritors) are all outlaws and they are lucky to have an accepting and sympathetic media on their side.
I think for the same reason she cried rape... She wanted to bond with the cops about her kids so they wouldn't haul her to jail... I think she lied to them about needing to get home to check on her kids...
After she was hospitalized, I think she wanted Bryan to go get her kids so they would be hidden if CPS came to collect them and protect them from their unstable, psycho, "dancer", straight A student, verteran, working mother.. Why else would she call him at 7:00 in the morning to go pick them up... They should have been getting ready for school by then...
Agree. Dad was truthful once, which puts his score lower than that of a stopped clock.
It also shows that Mangum comes from a culture of lying. It was in the very seed from which she was whelped.
Arrival & Timeline:
They stil have to deal with Jason Bissey's eyewitness statements on Video. He has the women going in at 5 minutes before Midnight.
He made that statement just days after the alleged attack.
A high visibility case, a well-financed side to represent, and the winning side of the case! Sweet work when a guy can get it.
yup--they dont want or need any help. And they are good.
Yes, we could have a call close to 11:45 showing that CGM was not there yet, plus we will eventually hear from the person who flagged the car down.
If it all ties in with Bissey's 11:50 statement, Nifong's goose is past well done, and beginning to smoke the place up.
