The only one who has said she called her dad for directions is her dad himself, and this was said in response to reports that Mangum was drunk when she arrived. He said she sounded fine on the phone just before she arrived. Her father is a chronic liar and makes up stories constantly to try to buttress or refute whatever the latest information coming out about her is, depending on whether it hurts or helps her case.
So, we don't know that there was any call to her dad at all, as far as I know.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
That's the way I took it, her Father has always appeared and made statements that for 5 minutes closed a hole or supported her story.
I don't believe one word coming from that father. Maybe the first interview when the AP said he had no idea what they were talking about and they stayed and spoke with him. I think that was the last sincere info we'll ever get out of him.
If you read POST 470,
here's the next step. This is a theory.
The same woman that did this extremely odd article/interview of Brian Taylor, which I believe was orchestrated and overseen by a lawyer, also was the only Media person to do a sit down with the Alleged Victim.
That same article in the North Carolina News and Observer was also strange. I saw on another website where the editor of the paper later stated that only the part of the AV's story that was consistent with the Police report and info from authorities was PRINTED in that artilce.
Everyone assumed this poor woman was found by the Media and she naively gave an interview. What if that was NOT the case? We know from Woody Van (her attorney when she stole a car and tried to run over the Cop) that the AV contacted him within days of the alleged attack. This is odd because if she's a victim, why is she contacting a DEFENSE attorney?
Let's suppose for a minute that she continued calling Lawyers. Let's say she called Mark Simeon days after the event. Mark Simeon is advising the AV's family. He asked the parents to stop talking to the Press (and they haven't since then). Simeon is representing Kim Roberts (Civilly) and he's admitted to contacting Willie Gary and asked him to sign on and be on the team with Simeon to represent Crystal
in a civil lawsuit.
A good argument (IMO) can be made that the interview with Brian Taylor was brokered with the sympathetic N&O reporter and that explains why any and all damaging subjects were totally and completed avoided (apparently, not even asked).
Consider this: what if Simeon (or some Lawyer) representing Crystal also contacted the N&O and brokered that interview on 3/25. That would explain why only the portions of the interview supporting her story made it into print. It would fit with Woody Van's statement that she contacted him days after and asked for advice (he could say no more).
If Crystal lawyered up that early that may explain why so far into this story, so little was known. Someone guiding and protecting her (with contacts to all the witnesses known to Crystal only) with the goal of improving the likelyhood of a Big Civil Payoff. I remember reading people posting dumbfounded that 8 weeks after it happened, we didn't know how she got to the party, or how she got to the hospital, or if she even has driving priviliges.
A lawyer looking out for Crystal's interests just days after the alleged attack - a lawyer that could negotiate with Nifong so that Crystal wouldn't have to go before the Grand Jury (which she didn't); negotiate for police protection and transportation; provide a unknown residence for the AV; and keep Drivers, boyfriends, friends, and relatives from selling damaging facts or stories to tabloids about Crystal.
That was my understanding also. Then her driver from that night came out with a dfferent story.
My point was that not one person they drag out can actually back her up.
