Concord, N.H. Two years after being confirmed as the world's first openly homosexual Bishop, Rev. Canon V. Gene Robertson exercised his new power Friday by adding Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" to the list of songs to be printed in the New Hampshire Episcopal Church's new hymnals, which will be distributed to churches within Robertson's diocese in June.
"My hope is that the congregation can look past the non-traditional lyrical content and see that Freddy Mercury's melodies are just as uplifting as conventional Church hymns," Robertson said, adding that he's "always had a special place in [his] heart for Queen."
Robertson also said he was still considering adding a George Michael song to the 453-page hymnal: "'Faith' would be the obvious choice, but I've always kind of been partial to 'Father Figure.'"

I didn't know that. That Freddie was quite an eclectic fellow.

My hope is that the congregation can look past the non-traditional lyrical content and see that Freddy Mercury's melodies are just as uplifting as conventional Church hymns," Robertson said, No. They aren't. Not on this or any other planet. At any time. Period.

Try reading through the lyrics, so helpfully posted at #22. This IS one of the most spiritually powerful songs ever recorded by a popular musician/band, and its message is exceptionally on point for young people who are involved in the dangerous dead-end life of street crime -- and there are plenty of those in the UK these days (and here too). I'd never think of it as a "hymn", but it's certainly not out of place in church. It provides an opportunity to begin to grasp the pain and despair and regret that such a life leads to, BEFORE actually doing something that takes one past the point of no return.

Unbelievable.....why these people even bother going to church is beyond me.
To destroy Christianity from the inside?

No joke, unfortunately. Freddie Mercury was a certified nutcase who died of AIDS. Every time Gay Gene pulls another one of his stunts (just got out of rehab, for instance) and the Episcopal Church does nothing to remove him, I start to feel like they've simply surrendered their church to the twisted freaks that flock there now because of him.
I am a Roman Catholic and even with the Da Vinci Code and the ongoing lawsuits, I still don't feel all that bad these days.
At least the pedophiles who infested my church knew to be ashamed of their sick ways.

You have GOT to be kidding me. Yes, it's all parody (just barely.)
