Are you sure? Do we really know for sure that only one person's DNA was found in her?They said they only found one match. I don't think they said they found only one source.

As the posters are noting, it is the suspect that is accorded the right to a fair trial.

However, I am willing to be magnanimous here. Since the ACLU and the NAACP are having this historic sea change of heart regarding victims, now would be a good time for us all to stand united and demand an end to all rhetoric about someone being on trial because of skin color or someone being given special consideration by the system because of skin color. From now on, I, the ACLU, and the NAACP will speak in one voice and insist on maximum effort to arresting, convictimg, and punishing suspects, regardless of skin color. And no more changes of venue. What say you ACLU, NAACP?

Chief Chalmers made an appearance at the city council budget meeting last night. He complained about the backlog of 35,000 warrants that the PD doesn't have enough patrol officers to serve.

The backlog of unserved warrants shrunk slightly when Seligmann's cabbie, Mr Elmostafa, was picked up by two of the lead lacrosse investigators. Nifong said at the time, "I would be very surprised if the officers even thought about using it as an opportunity to ask him something."

Also in the article, is the truly alarming news that Chalmers asked for money so that the Durham PD can do DNA testing without involving the SBI.

I think you are correct here. The "3 possible sources" came from her statement to the SANE nurse -- the "boyfriend" and the two "drivers". This is disgusting...she had unprotected sex with three different men in less than 5 days? Yikes!

Whao!! Big RED FLAG here!! Why would the Durham PD need to do their own DNA testing, unless they want to hide results from the SBI? Who are they covering for? Now I'm starting to understand why this case is so important to the DA and the Durham PD. Are they still involved in the call girl ring as they were back in 1992?

Given Nifong's confidence that the DNA testing would show who was guilty and the timing of testing the "boyfriend" I doubt it. I suspect the 3 possible sources came from her admissions to the police when the DNA did not match any lacrosse players and was well after she talked to the SANE.

If the Durham PD can't be trusted with examining a cell phone properly, how can they be trusted with analyzing DNA?

I wonder if the citizens who elected Nifong realize how Durham is now viewed by outsiders watching this case unfold? They may not care, but do they know?

I may be wrong here, but I thought this new "boyfiend and two drivers" came to light when the DA gave the discovery over to the defense attorneys. When the rape kit was used, the question was likely asked, "Whose DNA/semen will we find, besides the rapists'?"

I have little doubt she was asked that. What I doubt is that she answered truthfully at that time.

Nifong would not have been so confident that the DNA would tell him who was guilty, if she had told the truth to the SANE. The boyfriend's sample would would have been taken earlier too and they would not have had to do the second set of tests had she answered truthfully to the SANE.

The NAACP will try to intervene in the case to file a "quiet zone/let's let justice work" motion. That is otherwise known as a gag order, he acknowledged, although he said he doesn't like that term.

Where was the NAACP when Nifong was running his mouth giving daily interviews? Where were they when he proclaimed in front of a crowd that "My presence here means that this case is not going away." The NAACP like Nifong want to silence people now, because they know they are loosing the PR battle and this case is shining the light on the corrupt goings on in Durham.

The SANE report is more than likely useless.

We're pretty sure she lied about the last time she had sex prior to the rape and also did not reveal that she had fallen down the stairs AND ARRIVED at the house with bruises.

Crystal screams and cries for the SANE nurse?? Probably from part of a performance with clients who like rape fantasies.
