An attorney who represents 30 of the team players, Robert C. Ekstrand, criticized the police tactics and said: “The questioning that was going on was all about who was not at the party. It's not hard to conclude from all of this that they are very concerned that this accuser has identified, if the D.A.'s correct she did identify one or two of the boys last week--they're concerned that she's identified somebody who was demonstrably not at the party and they're trying to figure out who that might have been. My biggest question, however, is that's an awfully odd thing to be asking about right now when the objective of law enforcement is not solely to find the guilty but to identify the innocent.And on the eve of a threatened indictment, to be asking questions like that is stunning."
