Cecil Wallace awoke about 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the bawling of cows and the howling of dogs. The Buford farmer grabbed his shotgun and went running out the back door.
His son and next-door neighbor, Kenneth Wallace, also jarred awake also carrying a shotgun joined him. Father and son ran toward the pasture...
...Reaching the pasture, the Wallaces saw a cow, bloodied and torn, its calf standing nearby. As they approached the animal, according to reports, two dogs came running towards them.
Kenneth Wallace raised his 12-gauge. Boom! The larger dog hit the dirt, howling. Wallace fired again, and the dog was quiet.
The female kept coming. Kenneth Wallace fired a third time, the blast echoing along the darkened reaches of Bart Johnson Road.
The Wallaces dragged the dogs' bodies aside and tended to the cow, Betsy. She looked bad right ear torn off, the left shredded like paper. Her nose was ripped and torn. Two teeth were knocked loose. Not long after daybreak, Cecil Wallace took Betsy to a Cumming veterinarian, who prescribed painkillers and antibiotics for the Angus/Hereford cross.
"She's still in bad shape," Cecil Wallace, 73, said Tuesday. "She tries to eat, but she can't; her mouth's too sore."
Animal control officers have cited one dog owner with failing to have the animal on a leash.. They also charged the owner with violating the county's vicious-animal ordinance, which requires owners of a dangerous dog or cat to have it muzzled whenever the animal is off the owner's property.
Meghan Martin, who lives near the Wallaces, said she is the owner whom officers cited...p>
When I went to sleep, my dog was in bed with me," she said. A roommate let out her dog, plus a friend's pit bull, Martin said...

You are all so hysterical because the facts in the face of your denial are overwhelming.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
How many children got run over by cars and motorcycles in the same time period? How many of these children were sharing the same running venues as the pitt bulls when they should have been home being supervised or protected. I think all single parent children should be banned and kept on leashes in their own yards, they are dangerous as they begin to join gangs, take drugs and break into homes!
Ban children of single parent families!!!! They grow up into criminals and drug dealers who buy drugs from China, and guns from China, smuggled in by Corporations controlled by the Red Army of China! As you can see my Utopia is muchg different than your!
If the pitt bull problem, as you call it , was so serious, why aren't people shooting and poisoning them in your community?
Hundreds of Eskimos and Northerners were bitten by Huskies in the last year, why aren't these dogs banned already in Alaska?
You just don't get it do you?

The "pit bulls" that children have most to fear from have two legs and masquerade as members of the human species.

NAILED IT !!!
No wonder: post after post totally lacking any reason and/or logic and all of the non-stop, ultra-liberal, emotional crap !!!
To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a single reputable animal welfare body in all of North America - from the seeing eye dog folks to humane societies - which supports so-called 'breed ban legislation'.
However, dog-hating, statist, control-freak, social fascists have one natural ally:
the ecco-imperialist, earth worshipping, crypto-Marxist hypocrites of
PETA !!!

I am not against gun ownership, SUV's and pickups.
Given that you are following the exact same "logic" used by the anti-everything, liberal, commie sorts, I seriously question that.
Guns especially are in the interest of public safety, especially when needed to put down a pitbull that has gone on the attack.
That is the smartest thing I have heard you say on this thread. It only took numerous heaps of emotionally-charged liberal nonsense to get there. Congratulations!!
By the way, How do you feel about people keeping dogs for protection?

We are not hysterical. I would say frustrated, a little outraged perhaps, that someone would come to a conservative forum and post emotionally charged crap like this to try and sway an opinion. Personally, I get offended when people do that.

More data flowing in that the Blood Sport breed is an inherently dangerous genetic mistake. Another young life turned upside down....

Still avoiding any use of logic & sticking with the emotional stuff, eh?
Why don't you & your Chi-com buddy take your tired, PETA-approved, little show over to DU where doubtless they'll just eat it up?
I can see it now: they'll all go 'boo-hoo-hoo' & rush out with their panties in a knot to happily run roughshod over otherwise law-abiding peoples' rights by demanding that their dogs - even the vast majority who've never presented any problem whatsoever - all be immediately killed by the government.
Won't that be wonderful ??? Better hurry !!!
Apparently some part of 'virtually no authentic conservatives on FR agree with you' somehow just hasn't sunk in?

Personally, I get offended when people do that. Yes, you are hysterical and I did not just come to this site yesterday. As for trying to sway opinion on this issue, I do not need to. Public opinion on this issue is already on my side.
Now, I will ask you one more time. Would you like to put the sentiments of FR to a test, to see which side of this debate the come down on? Are you willing to put this to a vote to see if you or I am correct?
As far as being offended, oh well. This is not liberal lah lah land where we hold back our opinions because they might offend someone.
To: GMMAC
Sheesh...Your argument sounds like the homo lobby fighting for the right to give blood due to their "perceived" civil rights discrimination.
Emotional? I don't get it...This attack was just another data point in the case of against a fighting breed designed for nothing but killing. That's the facts-Jack! Now, You have been reduced to casting the liberal epithet due to having lost the argument based on data. The data reveals that ABPT's are over represented in killings and serious maulings by a large margin. Typical liberal denial!
There's nothing in the constitution garanteeing unrestricted fighting breed dog ownership..nothing whatsoever!...Heroin, handgrenades, mountain lions, tanks and venomous snakes are all example of prohibited property items.
Personally, I wouldn't give a damn if the attacks were limited to the owners...Then it would be merely a case of Darwinism. But they are not unfortunately, just google "Pit Bull shot" and see how many of these dogs are shot beserking neighborhoods.
Our inner cities are nearly third world countries because of liberal denial and neglect. In lieu of a proper solution from the Pit community, who seem hellbent on selling more dogs at the expense of public safety, the authorities will have to develop solutions. That's how it works in a normally functioning Republic. Feel free to call it nanny statism...some consider it reigning in criminal conduct.
Like I said earlier, the breed is only 200 years old and was selected by lowlifes for fighting. There's no useful purpose served by having them in neighborhoods.
Feel free to stick your fingers in your ears and stomp up and down like a child....

Ok, so the question is this: "What breed will come next?"
To think that once a specific breed is banned, and that no others will follow, is patently absurd.

You keep talking about "breed" and the point is that there isn't one: only certain dogs which control freaks like you don't happen to like the look of.
"Look of" because, if people like you could come up with any sort of legally binding definition as to what precisely constitutes a 'pit bull', Courts wouldn't keep tossing out your thus flawed statutes.
Plus, given that no one here is opposed to coming down like the proverbial ton of bricks on both negligent owners and dogs who exhibit and/or have a specific proven history of viciousness, I find it absolutely impossible to comprehend your problem ???
Are you just a couple of Trolls here to waste people's time & generally promote acrimony & disruption ???
How, as any sort of self-proclaimed conservative, can you possibly justify imposing such arbitrary governmental harassment on otherwise good & law-abiding citizens ???
Finally, how can you presume to know better than virtually every recognized animal welfare body in North America which stands in total opposition to so-called 'breed ban legislation' ???
Aside from you having consistently ignored all of the above, throw in being in bed with the likes of PETA & it's pretty clear who has their fingers in their ears ... or some appendage in some part of their anatomy.

From a quick search, some stats on other breeds.
http://www.goodpooch.com/BSL/worthingtonsunletter.htm
A Chesapeake Bay Retriever left one Ontario tot with over 140 stitches.
I guess now I can't get a 'Chessie' as a hunting dog now. Thanks.

Let me get this straight:
Proud Yank is "definitely PETA masquerading as a FReeper" while you're the one parroting what been now well-established to be PETA's dog-banning mantra ????
