Dutch police have arrested a new suspect in last year's disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, the Netherlands' national broadcaster reported Sunday.
NOS said police in Utrecht had arrested the suspect, but it was unclear where and when. The new suspect was said to be of Aruban nationality and an acquaintance of Joran van der Sloot, another suspect in the case.
Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was 18 when she disappeared in May 2005 during a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with classmates. She was last seen leaving a bar with three young men on May 30.
Utrecht police spokeswoman Danielle Friedman said she could not confirm any arrests in the case.
"If there was an arrest, it was on the orders of the Aruban prosecutors and all information will be transmitted through them," she said.
Authorities have arrested eight people including two last month in connection with Holloway's disappearance but released them all for lack of evidence.
Van der Sloot is the last person known to have seen Holloway alive. He says he left her alone on a beach after the pair kissed.
Holloway's parents are attempting to sue Van der Sloot, 18, in a New York court. Their suit alleges he imprisoned and sexually assaulted Holloway and caused her disappearance.
Dutch marines, the Aruban Coast Guard, the FBI and hundreds of volunteers have searched the island and coastal areas of Aruba for Holloway.
Could it be one of the K brothers arrested again?
YOMA**K**
duhh...
Which, of course, are the only two crimes - well, one actual and one possible crime - to have occurred in the past year

It was just on the dutch news. His name is Guido. Family name was not released.
His attorney confirmed that he knew JvdS. He was questioned 3 times on Aruba
and later on 2 times in the netherlands. He was a croupier in the Casino.
above is from SM - see front page - Dutch poster
They probably had to go to Holland to arrest another suspect. Haven't they already arrested every man on the island as a suspect at least once?
Another arrest?Wasn't a new suspect arrested a couple weeks ago?I don't want to sound insensitive, but this case has been beat to death by the media.
I'll see your loss and raise you a Greta vS.
Another one ?
At some point, I'm expecting a large portion of the islands population to be arrested in this case.
Lawyer: Suspect Detained in Holloway Case From Associated Press
May 21, 2006 3:09 PM EDT
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Dutch police have detained a man on suspicion of participating in the kidnapping and killing of Natalee Holloway last year in Aruba, the suspect's lawyer said Sunday. Gerard Spong said his client, whose name was not disclosed, was accused of "assisting in the murder, heavy battery and kidnapping" of Holloway. The Mountain Brook, Ala., woman was 18 when she went missing in May 2005 during a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with classmates.
This arrest happened in Holland. The suspect fled Aruba 14 days after Natalee went missing. The last arrest was in Aruba. It has to do with the Dutch legal system ... they don't really arrest but question.
At the same time, parents of murdered children hope that justice is served ... even belatedly.
Thanx for the info.Hopefully the "new suspect"is the perp and will break under interrogation.Do you think all the publicity has helped or hindered the investigation?
I know if I was the parent of this child, there could not be too much publicity. Usually cases like this get forgotten as there are so many of them.
It may drive everyone crazy but ...
I agree that nobody deserves to be murdered and that victims do deserve justice. But the Holloway-Twitty's seem intent on punishing Van der Sloot, whether he is guilty or not. Certainly, Mrs. Twitty cannot have more information than the Aruban police, yet repeatedly she has made defamatory accusations against that suspect and has recently filed a very questionable lawsuit against him in New York. Is that a sincere search for justice, or is it a determined effort to make someone, anyone, pay for her loss, whether he be guilty or not? Surely I don't know the answer to that, but, fortunately for all of us, Greta may have that answer soon.
Who says I watch the other networks? The only times I really watch TV at all is when The Sopranos are on, or when I'm watching baseball, football, or hockey.
It's been said he beat her up and then killed her.
Yep. You have just described the mentality behind MADD and any other "mom" based group. Nobody mourns alone anymore. It has to be society's" problem", or else there is no satisfaction.
