A woman has shot an alligator that came into her home and attacked her dog.
When the reptile came into the lanai of her home east of Bradenton Saturday and attacked her golden retriever, Frey went and got her gun.
After Frey and her daughter managed to push the gator out of the lanai through the dog door, she blasted away at it four times.
The alligator barely bled from gunshots to the neck and shoulder, Frey said, and wildlife officer put it back in the lake.
The deputy gave Frey a warning citation for hunting without a license.

Take a copy of the citation and mail it to Jeb Bush. Trust me, he'll make it right.

Why would the gator be put back in the water wounded? I think a wounded mad gator back in the water is asking for another attack. Since theres been a few attacks by gators lately I would hope wildlife officals would want to capture any attacking gators not let one loose.

I know Florida is in the CONSERVATIVE SOUTHERN PART of the United States.
It just sounded more like a something that would have happened in Hollyweird or Berkley...
Just sounded too flaky for Florida... Clearly, the woman was shooting the animal in self defense...
She was probably concerned the welfare of others when she shot the alligator - not trying to make some Alligator shoes...

"Too flaky for Florida"? It's going to take me some time to even make my mind accept such a concept. :)

It is getting so bad that if you shoot any vermin on your property, you can be charged.I suppose that includes democrats?
To: Northern Yankee

And stupid laws probably have all the ladies guns confiscated for the duration of the investigation. The gator will win on the second try against this defenseless lady.
To: George from New England
Then a Wildlife PR Official will bite their lip and say that they feel the family's pain of losing their mother, daughter, wife...
But, at least, they saved another gator.../s

Meanwhile three women killed in 'gator attacks in FLA in the last month...... Wonder what she was using. With an alligator probably need at least a 45!
I think gators are tough enough you probably need to be thinking about a rifle and forget this pistol stuff.
