Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

There is a Marquita Mangum who is a "housekeeping specialist" at Duke. Her voting record shows she is black.

She lives about 2 1/2 milesfrom Crystal's house. Also living at that house is an Eric Jones.

Because Crystal's bf used to be a bad boy in the hood, I looked up his name at the NC Corrections site. Big mistake. If your name is Eric Jones your chance of being convicted in NC inrease 100%

I remember him as a tough DA. When I was growing up in Durham, I was told never to get a speeding ticket in Durham Co because they threw the book at you there.

I remember him from the famous Barbara Stager murder trail, he was the DA in the case and he did something at the time I considered risky. He introduced evidence that she possibly killed her first husband, and it worked, he got a conviction and the death penalty. The DP was later overturned.

The trial was moved out of Durham. He may be inclined to support Nifong "risky" moves. Willis P. Whichard, a school chum of my mother, was on the NC Supreme Court and he is now the Dean of the law school at Campbell University. He just wrote an editoral somewhat supporting Nifong.

can you put up a link to this info? I came across something about a month ago that made me wonder if she had a middle-school aged daughter, but just let it go because the stated ages of her kids were 5 and 7.

Well, the LAX players picked up the nails and put them in the trash, and later a LAX player took the nails out of the trash and gave them to the DPD, per the defense conference. If this is the truth, the nails are useless to the prosecution. They would indeed have LAX player's DNA on them since they were handled twice and they were in the garbage for a few days.

We can see in the photos that the AV was lying on the floor in the house, and we know that she went into the bathroom. So, even a pubic hair on the AV is probably useless to the prosecution. She could easily have gotten a male pubic hair on her from rolling on that floor and being in that bathroom.

Afterward, attorney Bill Thomas of Durham -- who represents an un-indicted lacrosse player -- said semen found in the dancer's body was "of recent origin" and had been deposited there "immediately prior to her being examined" in connection with the alleged rape.

I think this was a local political matter, in part, and the rest of it was about Nifong sitting in an office for 27 years and grasping at anything to get elected so he could remain in what he probably perceives is a job that is owed him. I don't think Nifong thinks in terms of the broader politics at issue this year. Nifong is all about Nifong.

I'm a little cautious because the quotes are selected out, rather than giving his full statement. Still, it looks like he was pretty definitive.

There was no broom listed in the search warrant, either to be searched for or as being taken. There is no allegation about being raped with a broom except from Mangum's father. Roberts stated that the re,ark aboout the broom is what frightened them into wanting to leave, that's all. Then Mangum's pathological liar of a father began making the claim when the DNA came back negative. Then some screaming lunatic lawyers on TV picked it up - Wendy Murphy, that older black female lawyer who is a real dingbat, and I think Nancy Grace picked it up, too. That is the sum total of the allegation. Nifong has never alleged it and Mangum has never alleged it.

IIRC, early reports stated that Mangum told the medical staff conducting the rape exam that she had not had sex for three weeks, then later I read that she said five days.
