Well, some guys were there who aren't on the team as well.

The search warrant says 5 fingernails were taken from the house. So 5 fingernails were supposedly lost in this struggle and only one has "material" under/on it?

Why only 5 nails anyway?

Why would gang-rapists leave these 5 fingernails when it is so easy to get rid of them?

I agree and I am not a lawyer, but doesn't the prosecutor have the obligation to show they come from the woman in question, if they want to introduce it into evidence?

Well, the defense says the nails were not used.

I think the nails weren't used. I think it might have been an unused set of 5 nails.

I would think so. And if they don't have HER DNA on them then how would he do so?

Which I think is easily proved if they are clear of any adhesive residue. If they were unused then the "scratching and clawing at the attacker" scenario goes out the window.

Well, the defense says the nails were not used.

She threw them at them.

Just saw Susan Filan hosting the Abrams report with a new woman judge insisting this is damning DNA evidence.

To liven things up we need one of the 3 guy's girlfriends to come out and say she changed her press on nails there a week before the incident and threw the old set in the trash can.

Why stop there? I suggest one of the lacrosse team captains likes to dress up!

Why not, it's just as plausable as Reade being serviced while calling his girl friend?

The reality of this DNA evidence will be revealed as soon as the defense gets a hold of it. My guess is it's not worth much, and if it is DNA from a guy who live there's trashcan it's worthless.
I think this is Nifongs last and best shot, he gets his third perp walk on Monday and then what's left of his case starts coming apart in the motion hearings and in the discovery process.

Yeh, just imagine finding matching DNA in the bathroom wastepaper basket of a resident of the house. It's like a miracle.

Now we need a picture that shows him outside sitting on the stoop at 12:10....except as chief resident, I suppose he considered it his duty to get "Mother of the Year" out of his house.

Anybody from down there have a read on the opinions of the "man on the street" (i.e. the jury pool)? All the forensics or more likely if-y or lack thereof won't make any difference if the locals are too uneducated to "get it" or too tainted by racism or white guilt to acquit. There's no case here -- at least against the two, soon to be three accused.

My money is on who the AV was with prior to arriving late to the gig with injuries. I also believe her dancing partner is an opportunistic individual who will say or do whatever it takes to advance her cause. I also have questions with regard to one of her attackers having a mustache when nobody on the team has a mustache. Why wouldn't the D.A. look for another in attendance who has a mustache?

We have a presidential example that this is certainly possible if not plausible. But the DA must convince a jury that he was calling his girlfriend while forcing sex on someone. I would think that forcing sex on someone scratching and screaming and fighting would more fully occupy one than being serviced.

There have been many posts about a possible change of venue. It's pretty clear that Nifong is hoping for a Duke-hating Durham jury to convict regardless of all evidence to the contrary.

Man! Nifong has some reinforced genitals to base his future on this case. He'd best be certain he can pull this off or he's toast. The only thing he can do if it goes any further is drag his feet until the accused go nutz and take a plea. He has nothing. Absolutely nothing!

Only if it is true. No need to risk your credibility in this case. This case is overflowing with reasonable doubt. The jury pool is a little scary though.

I thought in an earlier article Nifong IMPLIED there were multiple deposits of semen in her or on her and because they were mixed it was difficult to separate out. And the implication, was that's why the results weren't conclusive to any one person. If it wasnt an article, it was an interview. He said something in regards to the defense is only sharing part of the DNA results. This was shortly after the election.

If the nails were in the boys' bathroom, then of course there could be DNA on the nails. Press on nails have sticky stuff don't they?
