DURHAM -- Tissue found under the fingernail of an exotic dancer who claimed she was raped at a Duke University lacrosse party may match a player who was there, several well-placed sources said Wednesday.
Analyzing the tissue, scientists concluded it came from the same genetic pool and was "consistent" with the bodily makeup of one of 46 lacrosse players who gave DNA samples for testing, the sources said.
At the same time, scientists ruled out a possible match with any of the other 45 students, according to the sources.
If accurate, the fingernail tissue match would offer the first DNA evidence potentially linking the dancer and an alleged attacker.
But because a complete DNA pattern was not obtained from the tissue, it was not possible to match it with the nearly 100 percent certainty that DNA results usually offer, the sources added.
The dancer told police she clawed at three attackers as they raped and sodomized her for 30 minutes during the March 13-14 lacrosse house party at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.

Wait until Geoffrey Feiger speaks about this.
I hope he's one of Greta's panelists tomorrow.
He's from the Sudan. I'm not sure.
She better not mess with Butch Williams.
Privileged Duke LAX players are easy targets in the media. Muslim taxi drivers are another story.
Excellent point. Since this is a political prosecution anyway, those are the rules that this trial must be played by...
Right! Good point.
But this is to paint him as an evil, lying criminal, for a jury's benefit.
This case needs a champion. A respected person in the media has to take the gloves off and call Nifong what he is.
Someone needs to ask the Durham City Manager when he comes out to the Microphones to defend the Police and DA, What if this was an all-black basketball team and a prosecutor had declined to see exculpatory evidence? Had continued and ratcheted up the prosecution when a black player had an airtight alibi from multiple sources. Had given sweetheart deals to witnesses. Charged a player for an private e-mail? Charged other players with misdemeanors for NOISE VIOLATIONS?
This is the final straw!
This now falls into the category of even if you don't agree or believe in the players, if they can do this to them, they can do it to you.
To let this go unchallenged is a dangerous precedent.
I agree!
I am hoping Geoffrey Feiger speaks about it and volunteers to represent the cab driver.
It's time for the bar or the AG to step in and put a stop to this. I don't mean they can dismiss the case but they can get Nifong in line.
That's the scary part.
I wish I thought there was going to be outrage at this.

WRAL is saying it's a partial match to the third guy she named.
I hope he wasn't there. Didn't she ID four?
I could never figure that out from those TEENY words on those pages.........LOL.
And if there was anything happening in the bathroom, Kim couldn't hear but CM knew exactly what Kim was doing.
Besides the accuser and the players, Roberts was the only witness inside 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. She did not witness an assault; she was outside when investigators say the players raped the other dancer in a bathroom.
Sorry, I don't know how to enlarge images ... or to lazy to figure it out. LOL
I tried myself!
A partial DNA match found on stick-on acrylic fingernails from a trashcan.
Rock solid evidence. /sarc.
That lines up with what the Durham Herald says..
It would make sense that she'd remember faces that she had the most contact with. If this guy met her at the door, caught her as she went to fall (she grabbed him as she fell) OR
if this guy tried to get the money back from crystal and she grabbed his arm or hand?
Since the first lab didn't pick it up, I'm guessing it was trace amounts that can passed with casual contact like hand shaking.
Gosh, I wonder what was "on" the four they left behind!!!
At this point, I wouldn't bat an eye if you told me the DPD planted evidence.
