DURHAM -- Tissue found under the fingernail of an exotic dancer who claimed she was raped at a Duke University lacrosse party may match a player who was there, several well-placed sources said Wednesday.
Analyzing the tissue, scientists concluded it came from the same genetic pool and was "consistent" with the bodily makeup of one of 46 lacrosse players who gave DNA samples for testing, the sources said.
At the same time, scientists ruled out a possible match with any of the other 45 students, according to the sources.
If accurate, the fingernail tissue match would offer the first DNA evidence potentially linking the dancer and an alleged attacker.
But because a complete DNA pattern was not obtained from the tissue, it was not possible to match it with the nearly 100 percent certainty that DNA results usually offer, the sources added.
The dancer told police she clawed at three attackers as they raped and sodomized her for 30 minutes during the March 13-14 lacrosse house party at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.

Well, the cat is out of the bag:
WRAL: "Reports say the DNA from one of Duke's lacrosse players was found under the victim's fingernail."
They just said that the Defense had acknowledged something was found at the first press conference, but that is wasn't DNA...........what does that mean?
Is anybody besides me sitting here, just shaking your head?
Good point.
The AV remembers plenty for being under the influence of date rape drugs. /sarc.
She sure does; who sat where, who was doing what.
I think she took somethign in the bathroom.
And I think there are clues in Kim's newest story.
The DriveBy Media will take this scrap of information and go into full Tommy Gun mode by the end of the day...
Or the stick-on acrylic fingernails picked up something from the trashcan.
OMG!!! They are pullinhg out all of the stops.
Kim could have put something in her drink. The AV drank Kim's drink.
Yep.
I so want a Perry Mason moment.
I've always figured the third was "Adam" who she later said the other players called Dan, or Dan Flannery, the team captain who lived at the house, and who booked the dancers. He could have been the one to put the press-on nails in the garbage or been the one to escort her to the car. And she would have remembered him because he was the one most likely to first greet her when she arrived. I think he's 23, wonder if he's graduating this weekend.
Dan Flannery is Kerry Sutton's client; she has been told he's not involved.
Did the AV throw the stick-on nails in the bathroom wastepaper basket when she was polishing her nails? The stick-on nails could have easily picked up DNA from tissues, etc.
And the security guard smelled alcohol on Kim's breath. So Kim either did drink at the party or she had something to drink in the half hour between the party and arriving at Kroger's parking lot.
All he did was pick up a fare??????????
Lisa PINTO: Rita, she was fighting so hard for oxygen, I don't think she knew what happened, except that she was being held down and fighting for her life. But Rita, how do you know, if 43 people don't have, if they have sex but they don't ejaculate, does that mean they didn't penetrate her?
Maybe Crystal claimed 43 men raped her at one point?
Only in this case!
I've gotta go
Dan Flannery is Butch Williams' client. And Butch was told in the first round that Flannery was not one of the two. Doesn't mean in the this round that he's not the one.
Kerry Sutton's client is the other team captain Matt, who was wathcing the David Letterman show in the room next to the bathroom. CM does mention a player watching tv in one of the bedrooms, in fact she mentions a few. I think there were three or four watching tv. Matt said he didn't hear anything in the bathroom. Of course, his word doesn't count. Interesting though she notes she saw a few players watching tv.
My guess is that the Defense released this information.
Didn't the AV say she identified Finnerty because of the scratches on his back.
