My mom and I had tea and muffins when I finished my homework early.

Darn... I didn't have time to do homework right after school. After school came the piano lessons, tennis or golf practice, and after that was dinner, chores, and then we did homework. And then we had to wake up at 5:30AM to go running, get in a game of tennis, eat breakfast, and then go to school.
If anyone had suggested that they could go home right after school, do homework and smoke pot, I'd have thought they were already high on something.
(Lights out at 8PM too.)

Hmmmm, I thought it was: the family that prays together, stays together, NOT the family that does drugs together, gets high together.

This is bad - but - I fear the prospects for mother and son may be even worse in the future.
It is possible that the mechanism of our judicial system will serve to introduce the mother to even worse forms of chemical escape, and disruption of whatever form of family life they already had might harm the son more than cannabis use.

I found out that my ex-husband's father, instead of paying child supprt, gave my ex-husband's wife pot, which she then smoked with my ex-husband while he was in high school.

I'll have to think of something just in case my son ever atually has his homework done early. I guess it'll have to be something really, really special since the world will most likely end later on that very same day.

my ex-husband's father gave my ex-husband's wife pot, which she then smoked with my ex-husband while he was in high school. Oh, many, many years ago
When I was twenty-three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as can be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon the two were wed
This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matter
Though it really brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy
This little baby then became
A brother-in-law to Dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
Then that also made him brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
Who of course is my step-mother
Chorus
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh, I'm my own grandpa

I'll have to think of something just in case my son ever actually has his homework done early. I guess it'll have to be something really, really special since the world will most likely end later on that very same day. (grin) What I finally had to tell on of my sons about not trying in school -
You don't have to try hard. There are jobs in life for people who don't try hard. Like riding around on the back of a garbage truck.
Your friends don't care if you do poorly because it makes them look better.
Now, there's probably one person who really cares that you do well - your grandmother - because you are 3rd generation at this school and ma maw doesn't want to be know as the ma maw of a dummy.
He got moving and we never had to push him again.
