Accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann's attorneys want Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong thrown off the case.
Today, they filed a legal motion specifically asking for it.
"DA Mike Nifong neglected his duty as a prosecutor to seek the truth and a fair prosecution," the defense's motion reads.
The motions were filed just 24 hours before Nifong's Tuesday election in which he's fighting to keep his seat. Nifong is being challenged by former prosecutor Freda Black and private lawyer Keith Bishop

While still working over at CTV, she made a speech somewhere for some reason....and while talking about her then hubby, Newsom, she made some comparrison about a banana. I will try to find it. It was quite odd.

Damn, that is TOO close considering what Nifong has been doing in this case.
If he wins he will see that as a signal voters like what he is doing and to keep moving forward with this debacle.
I hope Freda can pull it out in the end. Looks like there will be a runoff anyway.

Some people claim that if taken internally it has all sorts of health benefits, but I think those claims have been largely disproven.
However, it does neutralize this kind of spider poison (if you can get it to the poison).
After being bitten I had a enormous wound on my leg, larger than a silver dollar, which oozed pus and blood for a week (as the poison expanded its area of destruction).
But, I didn't have to have a skin graft or other expensive treatment, and now all I have to show for it is a nice, nearly perfectly round scar on my leg (about which I weave fantastic stories for whoever will listen)

The defense motion today includes the claim that the accuser told police in 1998 that her husband tried to kill her. Apparently, the defense puts that in the same category as the 1996 gang-rape charge -a false accusation.

Bishop, a black attorney will likely be elected in this strongly polarized environment. Will Nifong still prosecute the case if he isn't elected, its still all pre trial work so far, so he could be OFF the case.

This article says that campus police barred the Black Panthers from campus today. I know they were in the area, but maybe it was just off campus.

I am not sure how the defense can prove false accusations.
I think regarding the earlier false rape allegation, her father said last week something like "yeah nothing actually happened" or something like that.
"In one of several court filings Monday, Osborn wrote that the accuser has a history of making false accusations. The accuser told police in 1996 that she was raped by three men four years earlier. In 1998 the accuser told police that her ex-husband had tried to kill her, according to the court filings.
"Both investigations were dropped because the accuser never followed up on her initial reports to police, Osborn said in the filings."
I have lost count: how many ex-husbands does she have?
