Amy says Ecstasymade her do it

Amy Fisher says she was strung out on the drug Ecstasy when she shot her boyfriend's wife in the face in 1992. "I was using Ecstasy, a lot of Ecstasy," Fisher, nicknamed the "Long Island Lolita," tells "Entertainment Tonight." "I had no control."

In a class of working adults, mostly in their 30's, the subject of ecstasy came up. One person asked a man, "Have you ever taken it?" He said, "Every chance I get." He was always red-face and woozy looking. The whole class recoiled at his reply.

Amy Fisher to reunite with victim, lover

Amy Fisher will appear on TV with Mary Jo and Joey Buttafuoco to discuss why Fisher shot Mary Jo in the face in 1992. Fisher was 16 at the time.

More than a decade after 16-year-old Amy Fisher had a sexual relationship with a much older car mechanic and shot his wife in the face, the one-time "Long Island Lolita," Joey and Mary Jo Buttafuoco have agreed to appear together in a televised reunion.

All three have signed on for the appearance, which has yet to be sold to a network, TV producer David Krieff told the New York Post.

"It's time to just put it behind us," Fisher, 31, told the newspaper. "We played this all out in a public eye. It'd be interesting to let the public see the healing process at the end. They saw everything else; why not let them see the final product?"

Fisher spent seven years in prison.

Joey Buttafuoco, who was jailed for statutory rape after the 1992 shooting, said he planned to ask Fisher to explain her actions.

"I've been asked about a million times by Mary Jo, 'Why did Amy shoot me?' I was never able to get that answer," said Buttafuoco, 49.

"There's going to be a lot of shocking revelations, and that's why I'm excited to sit down to do this," he said.

The Buttafuocos divorced in 2003. Mary Jo remains partially paralyzed.

I saw Amy at the beach when she was out on bail awaiting trial. She was with her attorney and a couple of other adults. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I thought it was inappropriate for a teenager to be socializing with her lawyer. She later claimed that he had made overtures to her. Is this really surprising when she was sunbathing right next to him in a two-piece suit?

I pity the desperate loser who commented that he "would tap it".

Lot of really pathetic people on this board.

Come on, lighten up! She's not that bad looking. You're right in that she is beyond pathetic and discgusting for what she did, but all I was getting that is she was not skanky looking.

Sheesh!

Her soul is ugly and she therefore does not deserve my hot manlove. There are not enough face-burying pillows in my county to hide that selfish and cynical little bitch's face. My room does not darken enough to hide the glow of her nastyness. My bloodflow would be directed towards my shooting hand (if needed for self-defense) and would not be able to perform the needed function. Is that humorous enough for ya?

""I've been asked about a million times by Mary Jo, 'Why did Amy shoot me?' I was never able to get that answer," said Buttafuoco, 49. "

Never able to get an answer? I've got the answer...if that lowlife POS would have left the teeny bopper alone and honored the vows he took with his wife then Amy would have never been in their lives. It was all a tragic situation, but no one brought that on but Buttafuoco!

"I'm not excusing her, of course, but ectstasy is a horrible substance and a serious neurotoxin. I find it easy to believe that a stupid teenager doing lots of it might do anything. Ecstasy's reputation as a fun club drug/love drug is the cause of much suffering."

Same goes for Twinkies.

Twinkies are not seriously toxic to the nervous system and they are not horrible in the way ecstasy is.

I'm not arguing the "twinkie defense". Drug abuse is no excuse for attempted murder. She chose to take drugs that affected her judgment.

I'm just making the point that so-called ecstasy is a potent and very negative drug. It's often misunderstood by youngsters (and people old enough to know better), who think of it as a fun time love drug. In reality it poisons the brain and belongs with methamphetamine and PCP on the list of things no sensible person should dream of abusing. Do you disagree with that?

"...Jeez, won't these two EVER go away?!!?..."

Nope. They are like the klintons and AIDS. They'll never go away.

You must have never taken Xtc, come on now are you serious? XTC makes you go around LOVING everybody Not shooting them in the face. And if she was as you say Abusing it then most of her memory would be gone. XTC eats holes more in the back of your brain. where your memory is stored. Honestly this is a Natural born Deranged Psycho that Is Using XTC for an Excuse. Anyone that can sit there with a straight face and tell someone that a drug made them do it is obviously bluffing.

No, I've never taken it, but I am well aware of the empathetic glow it is supposed to fill you with. That doesn't alter the fact that heavy use leaves a person neurologically damaged and mentally and socially unbalanced.

As I said up front, her drug abuse is no excuse. If she's claiming that, she's wrong. But I'll bet it contributed to what happened, if she was a regular user. Serious druggies enter a world where unpredictable heartbreak somehow happens regularly.

Do I know using this drug was the tipping point for her? No. But it could easily have been. And one thing I think is without doubt. The misnamed XTC has a much undeserved repurtation as a relatively harmless substance.
