No, I've never taken it, but I am well aware of the empathetic glow it is supposed to fill you with. That doesn't alter the fact that heavy use leaves a person neurologically damaged and mentally and socially unbalanced.

As I said up front, her drug abuse is no excuse. If she's claiming that, she's wrong. But I'll bet it contributed to what happened, if she was a regular user. Serious druggies enter a world where unpredictable heartbreak somehow happens regularly.

Do I know using this drug was the tipping point for her? No. But it could easily have been. And one thing I think is without doubt. The misnamed XTC has a much undeserved reputation as a relatively harmless substance.
