The woman who says she was raped by three members of Duke's lacrosse team also told police 10 years ago she was raped by three men, filing a 1996 complaint claiming she had been assaulted three years earlier when she was 14. Authorities in nearby Creedmoor said Thursday that none of the men named in the decade-old report was ever charged but they didn't have details why. A phone number for the accuser has been disconnected and her family declined to comment to The Associated Press. But relatives told Essence magazine in an online story this week that the woman declined to pursue the case out of fear for her safety. The existence of the report surprised defense attorneys, one of whom has sought information about the accuser's past for use in attacking her credibility. "That's the very first I've heard of that," said Bill Cotter, the attorney for indicted lacrosse player Collin Finnerty, who along with fellow Duke sophomore Reade Seligmann is charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping and sexual assault. He declined additional comment. Attorneys for Seligmann asked the court this week to order the state to turn over the accuser's medical, legal and education records, and hold a pretrial hearing to "determine if the complaining witness is even credible enough to provide reliable testimony." The accuser, a 27-year-old student at North Carolina Central University in Durham, told police she was hired to perform as a stripper at a March 13 party, where she was raped by three men. According to the Creedmoor police report in August 1996, when the woman was 18, she told officers she was raped and beaten by three men "for a continual time" in 1993, when she was 14. She told police she was attacked at an "unspecified location" on a street in Creedmoor, a town 15 miles northeast of Durham. The report lists the names of the three men, but no other details. Creedmoor police Chief Ted Pollard said Thursday he had no recollection of the report, and his staff has been unable to find any additional information about it. Durham police Officer Brian Bishop, who interviewed the accuser in 1996 while working on the Creedmoor force, said Thursday he had a vague recollection of the report but couldn't remember any details. When asked about the accuser's previous report of rape, Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong declined to comment. Before Seligmann and Finnerty were indicted, attorneys for the players pointed to the accuser's criminal history when answering questions about their clients' legal troubles. The woman pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors in 2002.
No problem.
I just read all the comments, too, posted by hugs and kisses, and the only clue I figured out was the one you mentioned in #1.... that it is possible to determine what race DNA is. And if they test the DNA for "race" on what they found at the hospital on/in her, under her nails, etc, they'll find it came from a black person, not the white Lax players.
I've suspected that from the beginning...from whomever took her to the hospital...OR...could she have "entertained" this fraternity before arriving at the Lax players place?

Ok... how about #5... It was no coincidence that there was a prosititution ring being run by the cops about the same time the AV was taken by her much older "boyfriend" along with his buddies and "held against her will"... but yet no charges were filed or as it appears there was no investigation....
Of course, if we wanted to go even further, we could mention that the officer who took the initial report in Creedmoor is now a police officer in Durham.
It certainly doesn't influence my interpretation of any of the so called "evidence" that has been leaked or released...
Did you notice how many in that frat sported mustaches?
You guys are good! I didn't think of connecting all of that together....prostitution ring, Creedmoor, no report... now a police officer.
Do you know who this guy is? Does it mean anything? Kisses and hugs posted it.
MANGUM, BRIAN, SCOTT
Date Confined Date Released Statute Description Bond Type Bond Amount

There are a lot of Mangum's in North Carolina, so it could be nothing.
Officers from the Montgomery County Police 6th District-Gaithersburg/Montgomery Village made an arrest early yesterday morning for burglary and car theft.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on July 31, 2001, Officer Robert Perkins observed a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Father Hurley Boulevard and Waters Landing Drive. As a result of a stolen check of the vehicles license, the vehicle came back as stolen. Officer Perkins initiated a traffic stop of the 1986 Honda Accord on Alder Leaf Court. The driver and front passenger were arrested for auto theft and transported to the station.
Further investigation revealed that the car was stolen during the commission of a burglary in the unit block of Leafy Overlook Court in Gaithersburg on July 25, 2001, by the front passenger of the vehicle. During the burglary, the passenger broke into his parents home, took several items, and pawned them. The stolen vehicle had the right front passenger window broken out as well as the ignition punched.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kelly Phillip Ambrose, age 35, of no fixed address and the front passenger was identified as Brian Scott Mangum, age 31, of no fixed address. Mangum was charged with one count First Degree Burglary, Auto Theft, and credit card offenses. He was detained on $25,000.00 bond. Ambrose was charged with Auto Theft, Theft over $300.00 and CDS related charges. He was released on $2,500.00 bond.
Oh, Dukie, you're right! hmmmmm....
Strange, too, that when it was reported that she said the "third," guy had a moustache, I looked at their pictures posted online, and the only one who had a hint of one was the black Lacrosse member. Then again, I realize that any guy could grow one, or have a "shadow" resembling one, after several days of not shaving.
Yesterday at 8:50 p.m. , Sergeant Darrell Ferdock of the 5th District Special Assignment Team (SAT) spotted two men acting suspiciously in the area of the Texaco gas station at 19300 Montgomery Village Avenue in Gaithersburg .
Moments later, the two men entered the Texaco station. They immediately overpowered the clerk, stole cash, and fled on foot. After a pursuit, the two robbers were arrested by Sgt. Ferdock, along with other members of the 5th District SAT team.
Those arrested were: Brian Scott Mangum, 33, of no fixed address, and Robert Thomas Smothers, 27, of the 18700 block of Walker s Choice Road in Gaithersburg .
Both were charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and Felony Theft. Additionally, Smothers was charged with Assault and Resisting Arrest.
Mangum is currently being held on $45,000 bond and Smothers is being held on a $65,000 at the Montgomery County Detention Center . Their bond hearings are scheduled for today at 1:00 p.m.
Yes that's an interesting point.
Let's say the father is not lying when he remembers the police being present when he gets his daughter on that day in 1993. I wonder if the father remembers the police officer as being from Durham or Creedmoor? Could it be her 21-year-old "boyfriend" who she said beat her and let two of his "boys" have their way with her also had some "boys" in the police department? Was the 1993 boyfriend involved in the pimping/prostitution/pornography business? Were his "boys" in the police department involved in the police prostitution scandal? If there was no police report in 1993 and she did in fact fear for her life if she said anything about it, then perhaps there was a connection to the police. But then why would she feel more free in 1996, at the prompting of her then-fiance, to go to the police and name names? Perhaps the corrupt police officer (if there was one) was no longer on the force?
Does the AV today have a "client" who is on the police force? Remember, the police, not the DA, conducted the investigation here and they seem to have a real animus toward Duke students or at least the guys living in this house. That might explain the ridiculous nature of the police investigation in which their evidence-gathering consisted of trying to best support her story and showing no interest in evidence that would contradict it.
Who knows, but all this is probably worthwhile speculation.
Overall, however, there is not a lot of "mystery" left in this case, at least for those who are not grasping at ridiculous theories, like the one that has her arriving instead of leaving in the 12:41 photo.
I would like to know the details of the SANE examination. How demonstrative are the injuries of forcible rape? Or are they really just "pain and swelling," perhaps not completely unexpected for an active prostitute and one who perhaps uses sex toys in her activities? If in fact the injuries are strong evidence of forcible rape, then that does leave the question of who in fact raped her and when did that occur.
I would like to know if there was a tox screen and what that showed. Even if a date rape drug is found in her fluids, that may not mean very much here. She could have taken it herself for a buzz, her boyfriend could have given it to her to relax her, Kim could have given it to her in order to rob her, or, indeed a lacrosse guy could have slipped it in her drink merely for a sick sort of kicks and having nothing to do with rape.
I would like to know what exactly happened on the back porch from the time the AV stumbled down the steps at 12:32 until 12:41. Was she pushed down the steps or did she fall of her own accord? How long was she laying on the ground? What were the boys doing during this time?
But overall, the picture of what in general happened is not hard to piece together. What's left is how the legal and political pieces play out, and whether justice will be served.
Most chose to blow off xo, in preference of endless swamp talk.
Agreed. That's part of what makes this strange. We keep waiting for the DA to have something - anything - other than CM's testimony. I'm searching for reasons why he went forward with this case.
I guess the simplest explanation, which is usually the best one, is that Nifong is a certified yokel.
That's what I think. And it probably would have if that idiot Nifong hadn't stepped in.
The accused will forever be tainted, unless the family sues her and makes her testify in a civil case to get the truth out of her.
Exactly right, and that's why the Duke families are not going to let this fade away. I think Bob Bennett will become more visible when the civil phase begins.
Thanks!
Just for the record, he was incarcerated again 4/16/06 for misdemeanor probation violation. Would have thought years in prison for his 2001 and 2002 crimes...but guess not.
Thanks again. These sound like serious crimes, yet they turn him loose, apparently, to commit yet another one.
