The guy is solid. They need to clone him. Except he'd probably be against it. ROR!
I've already risen and shown.
Good day to you!
Hi Slippy! Any more rain out there? We've been sneezing like crazy around here this past week.
Here I am, at my desk, logging onto the FReep, that nidus of social & political wit.
Home from work and errands at last-
California's Berkely used to brag that
It was the nidus of liberal insanity-
While it may have been true long ago
Nowadays it is just a vanity
The public schools have taken the place
Of that bastion of koolaid drinking
And seek to indoctrinate our kids
To all the immoral ways of thinking
Like a family can be any group and
There aren't really any rules
As long as the children listen
And become amoral sheep and fools
The person(s) who is leasing the loon's house has acquired a dog and has it tied on a clothesline run (that yard only has a cutesy, little decorative fence, not a functional one). No one is at home and the dog is barking and leaping around hysterically. Yesterday, they apparently left it inside the house while they were at work and it could be heard howling until they got home at 6-I suppose it probably tore something up, too-hence, it is tied up outside today. I'm concerned that the poor frantic creature, (which looks to be a very pretty brindle Bullmastiff) is going to get loose from that clothesline run, get to the main road and get hit by a car or stolen. The barking really doesn't bother me, although Husky girl is curious about it, but it is really hard for me to mind my own business when I'm concerned for that big dog tied out on a flimsy little clothesline and leash-hell, Husky girl could snap that line with a good lunge and she isn't as big as that dog is-he could hurt a human or another pet if he got loose, as well.
dropped xsboy off at his baseball game (have i mentioned that i LOATHE baseball?) and then xsbrownie and i hit the garden center for stuff for my back deck. it has been so gorgeous the past few days i have the planting fever! my front steps pots have had the vinca vines come back beautifully full and are flowering already, but the other stuff i planted in them must have just been annuals, so i need to fill around the vinca out front.
Hubby has talked to that guy a few times, so I think I'll ask him when he gets home to go up the road and talk to him about the dangers of leaving a dog out unfenced out here-stressing the fact that this is the territory of at least one cougar, and that the rancher at the end of this road has said many times that he will shoot any loose dog that gets on his property and runs his livestock-and then there's the $500.00 fine for a loose dog. All in all, if that person cares for their dog, they need to get it some toys to keep it amused inside, or build a big dog run outside for it to stay in while they are at work.
I used to have beautiful vinca planted around the big oak tree in front of our house in the city, but it doesn't like the soil up here. I have impatiens in the pots by the gate and on the walkway leading to the side deck from the gate right now, and most of my vegetable plants are out, except for the beans and peas. I'll probably put geraniums along the deck rail like I did last year-that looked nice.
i hope the guy listens to your hub. a responsible pet owner would take all of that to heart. loosh is cooped up at home in the laundry room 3 days per week and i feel bad about that, but he is such a couch potato that he is perfectly happy in there, bc he is usually laying around and sleeping when he is out, like now, right next to me! of course he is enjoying his nightly walks with the hyper Aussieboy pup across the street. xsbrownie said loosh runs to get away from him!!
That pup sounds like a typical, hyper Aussie, alright-they will wear you out.
Husky girl is indoors while we're at work, but even if she wasn't an escape artist, I'd be worried about someone stealing her out of our yard to sell-it has happened to a number of people out here-they get home and their pet has been dognapped out of their fenced yard, and an advertised reward fails to produce the dog. It is too hot outside for Husky girl from spring to mid fall, anyway-her breed does not do well in the heat at all. She has the cats and plenty of toys to keep her amused while we're gone, so she seems to stay happy. She still howls, jumps around and expects you to howl along with her (which I always do) like wolves do whenever I walk in the door, though-it is a greeting ritual-they've never mentioned it, but I'm certain the neighbors must think I'm completely mad...
Oh, the leaves of that strawberry geranium added to tea when you brew it give it a nice flavor...
he is out walking with his new friend right now.
wow, that's interesting, i will have to try that!
Hubby called as he was leaving the city limits, so I'd better get my wok sesame oiled and heated up for shrimp stir fry started and put the jasmine rice in the microwave to cook-I like the way the microwave cooks raw rice-it never sticks if you add a little margerine and cover it with plastic wrap.
you need to explain to me how to microwave rice when you get back, that would be handy. i always do it the old fashioned way and have burned it more than once.
I just started the rice-you put 1 cup of raw rice, 2 1/2 cups of water, a tablespoon or margerine and whatever seasoning you use in a microwave dish (I prefer corningware or pyrex). Cook on 60% power for 20 minutes uncovered, then cover with plastic wrap and let sit until you will have the rest dinner ready in about 15-20 minutes. Fluff rice and check to see if it needs water-it so, add 1/2 cup and cook covered with plastic for 10 minutes on 60% power, fluff afain and serve.
Duh! Fluff the rice AGAIN...
